Locust Hill NC Historic Home The Brown-Graves-Yarbrough-White House, known as the Historic Locust Hill Farm The Yarbrough family operated a large family farm here until the 1950s.

Built by John Edmunds Brown as his tavern in 1782, this home and plantation has changed hands on several occasions. The Graves family, bought by notable statesmen, Calvin Graves, in 1843, gave the most prestige to this antebellum plantation. The White family bought the home after many years of disrepair and restored it to its former life. At the peak of operation around 1860, the plantation had ab

out 75 slaves. Among sites currently being investigated are the former kitchen and slave quarters. Four of the twelve quarters that were built still remain on the property today.
