Organization Uplifts Women in Need of Clothes

Harris' Heroes recently featured one of our past grantees, Women Giving Back, on NBC4! Check it out and you might just see a familiar face being interviewed. Nice job, Cyndi!

When you donate clothes, you often don't find out where they end up or who they end up helping. Leon Harris introduces that gives a name and story to every person receiving a donated piece of clothing.

Looking forward to seeing you at Empty Bowls this year!

Did you know the Giving Circle of HOPE ran its first food drive in 2004 for Reston Interfaith's Food Pantry (now Cornerstones)? Our then fledgling organization collected nonperishable food at the Hunter's Wood Safeway and North Point Giant locations and began a tradition of fighting hunger in our community. #throwbackthursday

And we're still fighting hunger today...15 years later. Won't you join us at our 12th Annual Empty Bowls on April 26 at Floris United Methodist Church from 5:30 to 8 PM? For the price of a $25 ticket you'll enjoy a simple supper, take home a handcrafted pottery bowl and know that you are helping to feed the hungry. Please go to https://foodforothers.networkforgood.com/events/11191-empty-bowls to purchase your tickets now!

Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that has been built by individuals, families, organizations and communities in countries around the world. Millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and it inspires people to take collective action to improve their communities, give back in better, smarter ways and help create a better world. #GivingTuesday demonstrates how every act of generosity counts and that they mean even more when we give together. And isn’t that what the Giving Circle of HOPE does every day?

Everyone has something to give. You can give time or expertise, monetary donations large or small, simple acts of kindness, food or clothing. Tell us what you're doing for #GivingTuesday and share your stories of giving with us!

Members gathered for an evening of wine tasting at Vienna Vintner to celebrate our 15th consecutive year of grant giving. This year’s eight grant recipients were announced and we honored Cyndi Shanahan who will be stepping down from the Guiding Circle after serving in numerous leadership roles including Membership, Grants and, most recently, Governance. Thank you for all that you have done for the Giving Circle of HOPE!

And thanks to Ed Shanahan of Breakaway Images Photography for capturing the event!
