Fox Friday!
Foxes have multiple dens, including a birthing den that they return to each Spring. There is one between here and the pedestrian bridge across Wiehle. You may have heard foxes wandering up the path between Yellowwood and Roundleaf, teasing sleeping dogs with a strange foxy wail late or way early in the dark of the wild night. Have you heard one?

It’s Fox Friday! Wishing you the patience of this mama fox as you navigate this time at home with your kids. We hope this brings a smile and laugh to your day. Footage is from last spring in Reston. Turn up your volume to hear the kits making adorable noises.
Some fox facts!
~Females are called vixens, males are dog foxes and babies are pups, cubs or kits.
~Both the male and female care for the kits until they are ready to leave in the fall.
~Foxes have excellent hearing and can even hear mice underground!

A neighborhood next to Hunters Woods Elementary School put together a scavenger hunt for families. Participants put a type of animal out on their porch so that during an afternoon, families walking around for fresh air could write down the animals they saw. Animals could be stuffed, plastic, on flags, paper, coloring pages, etc. so everyone could participate.
