Rep. Colin Allred

Rep. Colin Allred This is the official page of U.S. Congressman Colin Allred. Proudly representing the 32nd Congressional District of Texas. Born and raised in North Dallas by a single mom who was a Dallas public school teacher, Congressman Colin Allred was student body president at Hillcrest High School and earned a full-ride football scholarship to Baylor University.

Diploma in hand and prepared to attend law school, Colin deferred his acceptance to play in the NFL. He was a linebacker for five seasons before sustaining a career-ending injury that opened the door for him to fulfill his other dream -- becoming a civil rights attorney. Colin served in the General Counsel’s office at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Colin later returned home to Dallas and decided to run for office to represent the district he grew up in. As a Representative, Colin is dedicated to helping North Texas families gain the same opportunities he had to fulfill his dreams. Colin’s top priorities in Congress are working to lower health care costs, protecting Medicare and Social Security, and creating an economy that works for everyone. Colin is passionate about expanding access to vocational and trade schools and lowering the cost of college so all North Texans have the shot at a middle-class job. He believes Congress must find common ground to rebuild our aging roads and bridges, pass comprehensive immigration reform and take care of our veterans.

Texas is on the cusp of another COVID-19 surge. Is the state better prepared to handle it?

COVID-19 cases are increasing across the country, including here in Texas. I’ve voted to provide relief to our local governments and make sure they are prepared. I urge leaders in both parties to come together and pass a deal to help.

Experts say Texas is more prepared to handle another wave. But they fear that if the state fails to control the outbreak, it could quickly spiral out of control.

Texas unemployment rate rises to 8.3% in September, seven months into economic recession

With unemployment levels rising in Texas, it's clear that Congress must take action to restore expanded unemployment benefits for those who need help. I’ve voted twice to help Texans and I urge leaders to come together on a deal to provide assistance.

After a summer of declining unemployment rates following Gov. Greg Abbott's widespread business reopenings during the pandemic, the state's unemployment rate jumped to 8.3% in September.

Dallas County reports 554 more confirmed coronavirus cases, 3 deaths; Tarrant logs 501 new cases

We are now seeing COVID-19 cases rising again in North Texas which is very concerning. We must stay vigilant and practice the CDC's best practices to stop the spread: wear a mask in public, wash your hands, and stay home if you are ill.

Dallas County reported 554 more confirmed coronavirus cases Sunday, including 516 the county considers new and 38 from previous months. Three new COVID-19...

Why A Flu Shot Is Even More Important During The Pandemic

Our doctors and nurses are now facing an unprecedented flu season with a pandemic. The best way to help them and keep yourself healthy is to wear a mask, stay home when you are ill, and get your flu shot as soon as possible.

Oct. 1 marked the official beginning of flu season. An emergency room physician in North Texas explains what bothers the health community about having flu season amid a pandemic.

One year later: The night of the Oct. 20 tornado then and now

It's been a year since severe storms ripped through our community, causing destruction that many are still dealing with. The denial of funds by this Administration and COVID has compounded this hurt. I promise to work in any way I can to help us recover.

It was around 9 p.m. on a Sunday last October when Rachael Gutknecht’s ears started to hurt. Gutknecht had just gotten home from a weekend trip, and she...

The effects of this pandemic are wide-spread, severely impacting Texas families. 12% of adults and 20% of children in Texas report not having enough to eat. I’ve voted to deliver relief, and I will keep working to help those who need it.

Millions report that their households did not get enough to eat or are not caught up on rent payments.

This pandemic has created a lot of financial hardship for many, and it's important that North Texans get the money that they are owed. I helped Dana from Dallas get her stimulus money after months of frustrating delays. Call 972-972-7949 if you need help.

Dana was expecting to receive an Economic Impact Payment (EIP) debit card but grew frustrated when her EIP debit card was sent to her old mailing address. This pandemic has delayed important documents for many North Texans. I was able to help Russell from Wylie and his family get their passports in days after they experienced delays with the State Department. Call 972-972-7949 if you need help.

Russell and his family planned to go on a mission trip to Hungary in early September, but they encountered a slight problem. Allred Again Urges Action on Health Care, Report States North Texas Cities Have Among Highest Uninsured Rates in U.S.

Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the nation, and North Texans need more health care, not less. I am working to do everything I can to expand access and lower costs across the board.

Texas should expand Medicaid and extend coverage to one million Texans. I again urge the Administration to drop its harmful lawsuit to repeal the Affordable Care Act and come to the table to work with Congress to help more people get access to the care they need.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) today called on Texas to expand Medicaid, and for the Administration and the Senate to come to the table to expand health care coverage and lower costs. This comes after a new report using Census data stated that North Texas cities had among the ...

Text from Governor Abbott’s News Release today - What does this language sound like to you? “Under this proclamation, beginning on October 2, 2020, mail ballots that are delivered in person by voters who are eligible to vote by mail must be delivered to a single early voting clerk’s office location as publicly designated by a county’s early voting clerk. The proclamation also requires early voting clerks to allow poll watchers to observe any activity conducted at the early voting clerk’s office location related to the in-person delivery of a marked mail ballot.” Below is a link to the full proclamation document. When and if you look at the full document please try to read beneath all the language about Covid-19 disasters actions, and think about exactly who this affects the most. I am guessing that the good folks in the following counties cannot be happy about this: Harris, Dallas, Tarrant, Travis, Bexar, El Paso, etc. https://gov.texas.gov/uploads/files/press/PROC_COVID-19_Nov_3_general_election_IMAGE_10-01-2020.pdf

Letter to the Editor in this morning's DMN. (Couldn't have said it better myself ). Genevieve Collins, running for Congressional District 32, said in regard to President Donald Trump: “The reality is they loathe his behavior, they loathe his tweets. But they really like his policies and they like what he represents and how he gets things done.” No, we don’t. We don’t like that we have 4% of the world’s population and 22% of the deaths from COVID-19. We don’t like that he has rolled back environmental safety regulations, accelerating the threat of climate change, rather than mitigating it. We don’t like that his tax policies created a $1.5 trillion gap in the annual budget before COVID-19. We don’t like that he has wasted millions of dollars on a border wall that every Texan knows is ineffective. We don’t like that he won’t stand up to Vladimir Putin after Putin put a bounty on our soldiers. We don’t like that he has feathered his own nest by spending $100 million and 280 days golfing at his clubs. We don’t like that he has locked children in cages. We don’t like that he has vilified every minority group in the country. We don’t like that he’s destroying the post office for political gain. In short, we don’t like Trump and we aren’t going to vote for someone who supports him.
Time to vote this guy out!
September 22, 2020 Keep up the good work.
Where can I get a Colin Allred yard sign?
Colin All-Red does not represent his district or Texas. It's just not possible that someone representing our incredible region could possibly vote in lock-step with the crazies from San Francisco. All-Red represents California, New York, Illinois and Portland, not Texas. That's why he votes to take money from hard-working Texans and wants to give it to grossly mismanaged places like those. I've met this guy...he is definitely not smart, but he is obedient to Nancy Pelosi and AOC.
Collin, I just saw your political commercial on television. I am a grandmother and when I saw your precious little baby I couldn't help but wonder how you could represent a party that would allow abortion that could kill a baby almost to the point of birth. I think you are probably a good father and I believe you are interested in doing what is right. I would like to ask you to reconsider your support of this issue.. Thank you
I have not seen a single yard sign for you! Only for G Collins. Get these signs out and up!
