Prior to and since successful contract transition on April 15, 2021, Navarro-ATL (HLMI) has been working to unite Analytical, Facility Maintenance, and Operations staff with common performance goals. Leadership Tri Cities recently held its annual Hanford Session Day, bringing class members together to explore the Hanford Site - from its Manhattan Project origins to today’s complex cleanup mission and regional impact. The day featured a Hanford Leadership Panel with senior leaders from the DOE Hanford Field Office and Hanford contractors.

We were proud to have Garrett Knutson represent Navarro-ATL on the panel, sharing how the 222-S Laboratory operates as the analytical backbone of the Hanford cleanup mission and offering insights into his own leadership journey.

Navarro ATL was proud to attend the Region X VPPPA 2026 Northwest Safety & Health Summit in Boise, Idaho, held May 19-21.

Our team joined other safety professionals from across the region to learn, collaborate, and strengthen workplace safety practices.
Brian Stickney (Chief Operations Officer), Hannah Haworth (Safety Specialist), and Tracie Arnold (Communications Manager) also led a workshop showcasing our T.A.K.E. 2 at 222 safety campaign as a successful model for improving workplace safety.

We appreciate the opportunity to share our work and learn alongside other safety professionals from across the region.

Dr. Susana Navarro recently visited Hanford and the 222‑S Laboratory. In these photos, she is seen observing several tank samples, including tank closure samples and tank sample receipt work that support the Direct Feed Low-Activity Waste (DFLAW) or vitrification process.

These moments highlight just a few examples of the critical role the lab plays in the Tank Waste Mission at Hanford. As a world‑class radiological analytical laboratory, 222‑S provides essential analytical services, technical expertise, and high‑quality data that directly supports safe and effective waste treatment.

Celebrating 75 Years of Safety at the 222-S Laboratory 🎉

As we honor 75 years at the lab one thing has remained constant: safety is a high priority. From our earliest days to today, protecting our people has always been at the heart of our mission.

Since launching T.A.K.E. 2 at 222 in August 2024, the campaign has been a success - significantly decreasing incident rates and strengthening our culture of safety with every job. By taking just two minutes to pause, assess risks, and think it through, our workforce continues to choose safety first.

Whether at work or at home, our T.A.K.E. 2 character is your reminder: Take Two✌️before you begin any task.
