“Psychedelic drugs, including ibogaine compounds, show potential in clinical studies to address serious mental illnesses for patients whose conditions persist after completing standard therapy. Indeed, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Breakthrough Therapy designation to specific psychedelic drugs, and there are numerous products currently in the clinical trial pipeline for review of safety and efficacy. It is the policy of my Administration to accelerate innovative research models and appropriate drug approvals to increase access to psychedelic drugs that could save lives and reverse the crisis of serious mental illness in America.” - Donald J. Trump

“Virginia’s governor has signed a pair of bills that will legalize a form of psilocybin under state law if and when the psychedel!c is approved by federal officials.” -

This year’s legislation marks a clear step forward from last year’s SB1135. The previous bill was narrowly tailored to a specific “crystalline polymorph” formulation of ps!locyb!n, effectively aligning with a single patented product. The newly signed bills take a broader approach, covering ps!locyb!n more generally once federally approved. That shift didn’t happen by accident. It reflects sustained advocacy and pressure to move away from a single-product framework.

The Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors created an 18-person committee to study plant medicine during its meeting Wednesday night. -

“Midlothian District Supervisor Mark Miller told the board that the county’s veterans could make use of alternative therapies – namely psilocyb*n – to treat post-traumatic stress disorder.

“Traditional treatments, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs, and cognitive behavioral therapy have helped many, but they are not effective for everyone,” he said at the meeting.

The committee will hold public meetings throughout the year. According to a county release, those meetings will be publicly advertised.“
