Months ago the American Legion purchased the container to use as storage to replace two other storage building. Rather tnan leave it as it was, The post chose to have it painted and Terry Dickey was hired to complete this job. Once the primer and top coat have dried, it was decided to offer the Richmond High School Art Club a chance to paint murels on the sides. They must be Patriotic in nature as requested by the membership of the American Legion. The designs will be submitted and approved. The container is 40 feet in length, 9.5 feet in height and 8 feet in width. We look forward to seeing the end result.

This grave marker was dropped off at the Ray Co. Vets Bldg. after having been found in a rental property that was being cleaned. A search of the VA Naionwide Gravesite locator and Find A Grave revealed that the individual was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, MO. The City of Excelsior Springs was contacted about the grave marker and plans are under way to take of it. We have had other such grave markers turned in to us and we try to find them there proper placement. Should you find one, contact your local veterans organization and they can help in seeing that it is taken care of.

Don't forget next Saturday, November 2 is Harvest Celebration, 11-3, the meal is FREE .....turkey,ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, dessert......great food and great music as well. This is another great community event that the Ray Co. Veterans Bldg. makes possible by being available to rent. When rented, the funds help with the upkeep, utilities, and dozens of other maintenance items as well as providing numerous programs for Veterans, students, as well as medical rehab equipment, a free service, that may be needed after injury, operations, stroke for those in our community, etc. In the showcases and on the walls of the building there is so much history and memorabilia displayed, to keep reminding us that freedom isn't free and honors the men and women who have served this country in years past.
This is to all the Devil Dogs out there. I am interested in start a Young Marines group here in the Richmond area. https://www.youngmarines.com/index.html If anyone is interested in this please let me know.
