ISO IHSS Providers, CNAs, nursing school students, as well as skilled nurses that may be interested in helping to provide care for my daughter who has Rett Syndrome in Coronado for day &/or early evening shifts. I am a single mom of 5; 1 college grad starting her adulting in Nashville, 1 sophomore at Ole Miss, 2 high schoolers and my eldest is Chelsea who has Rett Syndrome and other underlying exceptionalities. Currently in patient at Rady Children’s but a hopeful discharge very soon.

She loves music, particularly country music, strolls in our community, the beach, people watching, honorary member of the SDSU Dance Team, concerts / live performances of musicals, theatre & dance & more.

She has her own accessible adult dwelling space attached to our home; accessible shower, whirlpool bath tub, kitchenette, outdoor adjacent private covered patio for fresh air and in home therapies (PT, OT & Music).

Please message for a conversation should there be an interest and availability. Feel free to share with anyone who you know may have an interest. Thank you.

Chelsea just came out of her OR procedure with the pic line. What was to be an hour took about 2 1/2 almost 3 as they had some difficulties, but they just took her to post op to wake from anesthesia. They had to try a few different areas until they finally got to the best location that was successful.

I was sitting outside and fresh air talking to a very dear friend when I looked and saw the doctor walking along the Glass building of surgical just shaking her head so I got a little nervous but she met me outside to explain the situation but after a few attempts in her legs, they finally had success in her arm.

Again, typical Chelsea fashion…. She will challenge you and make you go beyond but it is sometimes at her detriment which needs to be in a better way!! longer being under with anesthesia and 3 sticks to the optimal site but she has the line to receive the medicine & the nutrients she needs in the best way possible while in the hospital. Hope that means a faster route to get her home sooner than later.

Thanks for your prayers and good vibes that help get Chelsea as well as myself through these moments and a huge thank you Stanya for calling to talk with me & listening to my angst while waiting for my lady. Mom mode commences.

Love you big sis😘 you have known me the longest and thru many trials and tribulations while growing up thru several life moments that have been most amazing to those not so amazing to having each other no matter.

Btw - Anyone own a gas station with unlimited supply of gas? Can I get air miles for future use for the highway miles gathered 😉 it should be a thing. We need a vacation after all of this but I will settle for being home and sleeping on our own beds and sitting on the porch for sunset & a whiskey. Chelsea has her drugs so Kate farms milk for her 😊

Week 5: two surgeries later, high blood count for a few days which is looking better, wound vac placed after 2nd surgery for the 2nd wound created is now off and some sutures have been removed. Waiting to hear from plastics as to initiating sitting protocol so we can start counting down the days to hopefully being discharged by next week 🙏

With that, need nursing who would like to be independent of an agency or for an agency who has available nursing for shift care to assist with Chelsea’s care for day shifts, evening shifts and some overnights, especially in mid September so I can visit with my two adult daughters for a bit in Nashville and Ole Miss, if possible. CNA’s are also welcome for pay they HCBA, WPCS & San Diego Regional Center.

I know I have posted this several times but then she went into the hospital and I have been consumed with her care and recent happenings with her surgeries and other children. I would never ask for help as I know there are many struggling to find care. I am struggling with an inability to get the appropriate support & services from case workers as they are overwhelmed due to lack of nursing and/ or just not being supportive as they have too many cases they can not manage and do not know how to help while submitting the wrong requests.
Closest family I have is in FL. I appreciate the contacts, agencies, referrals and assistance in my search to help me best help and care for Chelsea in Coronado.

She is out of surgery and in postop. Took longer than anticipated. Just called me to post op recovery. She's just starting to open up her eyes so hopefully will be back up in her room in about 25 to 30 minutes. The projectory of her being in this hospital is now mid August. August 16th

Surgery is planned for 12:30 today. 🙏🙏 I truly appreciate and thank you for the prayers.

Another surgery planned for tomorrow. An infection at incision site. Prayers for Orthopedic surgeons and plastics surgeon. Previous placement of rods and screws from broken femur 13 years ago may or may not be cause of irritation. Hoping praying that is not the case as that would require more of a surgery which will bring on more pain and discomfort.

Deep breaths I take but I am honestly filled with rage, anger, frustration as nurses and I saw this starting to brew last Thursday with little bit of redness, to gradually more redness to blistering and then discharge yesterday. They started antibiotics on Sunday but here we are with her having to go back into surgery, anesthesia to more recovery & healing time added.

Deep breaths I take

Loving my Mom & daughter moment while I was able to hold Chels for a little bit while her bed was being cleaned. Love the cuddle time and her being able to have some sunlight and a change of scenery to be able to look out her window.

Love her nurses♥️♥️. 1 week down with only a few weeks to go though potentially 5 but I am going to hope for the best case scenario.

Day 4: Good News that the decision was made that Chelsea will stay at Rady Children’s for the duration of her recovery and healing which I hope to be for only 4 weeks though projected to be approximately six weeks.

I am very appreciative and thankful along with that of those who are caring for her for such a decision to be made for Chelsea.

It is taking some time for us to find that sweet position for Chelsea to get the appropriate rest as she can only be on her left side or that of trying to put her on her stomach. It has been tricky with the specialized bed that she requires to find a comfortable spot for her, but I’m hoping that we’ll figure it out here sooner than later.

As usual, though, when we do find a position that seems to be working for her, she gets disturbed. She has been resting really nicely for the last two hours.

She is in room 3120. Due to the time that we will have residence longer than I would like but necessary, I’m hoping that our loved ones, friends and community, would consider sending her some really colorful cards, drawings/artwork that I could hang in her room for her visual stimulation as we’ve done in the past, which makes for a nice temporary room for her to heal aside from a bare blue wall.

She can not face the window and the tv is somewhat high on the wall for her to watch though I have moved a bed a bit for some change of view from the nurses station. We did watch a Taylor Swift Eras tour on the laptop on the bed table which gave her some comfort to fall asleep.

Thank you for the loving messages, prayers and good thoughts for Chelsea. Thank you to Dr. knight & Rady for coming to the decision, the best decision for Chelsea and her specialists to be able to provide the care with these amazing nurses. Love the love for my Chelsea.

Not quite woken up but finally in a private room. She opened briefly when I gave her a kiss. A specialized bed for her recovery keeping her warm and comfortable… I hope. Going home for some sleep and will be by her side early morning after singing Happy 17th Birthday to my youngest girl, Hannah, in the morning

Good night all

On our way home now 🤗🤗🤗

THANK YOU FOR THE PRAYERS & for continued healing with the antibiotics in these next few weeks before having to return for surgery in July.

You know I’m on a little getaway if I’m on Facebook. Love to see the pictures and the moments of friends & the families across the miles and those close by while adding those to my prayer list who need such prayers and for their families.

Condolences to those who have lost loved ones especially to those with angels such as my Chelsea. I pray with every morning as I wake and every night as I eventually fall asleep, especially for the families with those with such special needs and disabilities & for those who care for them for continued strength, and to know that you are never alone.… lean on your family and friends that are there for you. Never hesitate to call those who are across the miles when necessary.

The end of a chapter of my life to new beginnings! I have not quite celebrated the New Year, but I’m on my way to checking off that laundry list.

Chelsea‘s Voice has been on quite a hiatus since Covid, but my priority and main goal is the revamping of Chelsea‘s Voice to get back to bringing meaning to Chelsea’s story and her journey which has so much more to come as we near her 32nd birthday in March♥️.

If there’s anyone who would like to be involved with Chelsea’s Voice in anyway, I would love to have your involvement even if across the miles, so we can make a difference in so many lives of those with disabilities, life-threatening illnesses, and those who are their caregivers to enhance their quality of life & help to be there oxygen mask. While also helping to build universally accessible playgrounds with Inclusion Matters to provide play value for all persons of all abilities & all ages to our communities!

My dream fundraising event is to plan a Country Music Concert with a handful of Chelsea‘s favorites for her love of country music and live performances.
Goal is for March 2026! If you would like to help me and be involved, please feel free to reach out.

Happy Sunday, blessings to all & remember to take time for yourselves!
