Today our annual Gathering of Descendants Day event is being held in the fort from 9-4:45pm. This is an opportunity to find out about our settlers from the many family groups and historical societies. In the morning Randal Jones, noted Boone historian, will do a presentation in the fort and Nancy O’Malley, the archaeologist who led the two digs will be at the original fort site in the afternoon for a discussion on her findings. Our living historians and volunteers will be demonstrating several pioneer skills throughout the day. The gift shop will be open and concessions are available. Admission is $8.00 for adults, children (6-12) are $5.00 and children 5 and under are free. Public parking will be in the HWY 388 lot across from the picnic area entrance with free shuttles.
