All students attending the Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Submarine Basic Officer Course go through the Damage Control Wet Trainer where they learn the basic procedures for stopping flooding aboard a submarine.

The first part of DC Wet training takes place in a classroom where students learn the fundamentals of patching a leak, while the second part of training takes place in a mock engine room where students are faced with the real-world scenario of flooding. In the mock engine room, students must work as a team to get the flooding under control while getting slammed in the face with water.

This training is done to ensure that all Submariners who may face flooding aboard a real submarine are not experiencing something new and have the know how to fix the leak.
