General information

Born in 1996 as the Virginia Higher Education Tuition and Trust Authority, the Virginia College Savings Plan – or Virginia529 – has emerged as a premier 529 Plan in the country. What started as a vision for helping families pay for college via a prepaid tuition program has grown into the largest 529 plan in the country with nearly a quarter of the nation’s 529 assets. Our founding executive director and the Virginia General Assembly saw a need to help the families of the Commonwealth prepare for higher education in an affordable manner. Twenty years later, we continue to deliver by offering three flexible, affordable and tax-advantaged programs to enable families throughout the nation to pursue higher education. Located in Richmond, Virginia, Virginia529 is an independent state agency with a diverse team of very dedicated employees. Our growing agency thrives on innovation by employees who believe in our mission and work hard every day to ensure we are offering the best 529 options to our customers. The website isn't working. I put in my user ID and PW but I get a blank screen. What's going on? I understand the offices being closed today but the website too?????
I have tried on three occasions to log in to my account unsuccessfully. I wait for hours to receive the authentication code to my email and it never comes. Just called and the recording said, you are closed for an employee meeting. You guys have the worst IT and customer service I have seen in ages. It is 2020!!!!!
I've been on hold for one hour and three minutes... maybe hire more customer service reps?
If you like a minuscule tax break that goes to zero when you move out of state and customer service representatives that lose your personal information, go ahead and sign up. Otherwise, may I recommend a reputable financial company like Vanguard.
The unit price for the invest 529 has not updated today. I thought it was updated everyday by 4pm. Can you advise?
Well my 6 th try at reaching someone. Left call back number for the THIRD time... waiting. This program sucks!
Hello. I am starting this plan late. My girls are already in middle and high school. I am trying to open an account and it's giving me a first payout date. What does that mean? Do we have to withdrawal then? Also is it best to do one account per child and how do I get help selecting investment types? Wait time on phone was 45 mins
This program is a PERFECT example of why government should NOT have any role in our healthcare, education or any aspect of our lives! I have tried for DAYS to reach someone and nobody ever answers the phone, returns calls or emails!!!! This program gets sub-par returns, you cannot get any questions answered within a reasonable amount of time ( two weeks+ is not reasonable). DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM, look elsewhere!
we were on hold for 1 1/2 hours. no one ever answered the phone. really???
Re: Invest 529: setting up ew account, but I will need access to funds in January 2020, but it states that the first payout date is August 1, 2020. Can you advise?
Just recieved the letter saying that the INvest529 will be renamed. to the ESG (??) Core Equity Portfolio."The name takes into considerations the environmental, SOCIAL(???!!!), and governance practices (???) of the companies in which the portfolio chooses to invest." What in the world does that mean? Are there guidelines listed that we can review of this 'investment' strategy? This sounds a lot like a 'politically correct' statement....and is VERY concerning.
Why does no one respond to requests for help????!!!!!
