š©µāļø Peace out, Richwood City Pool⦠until next summer.āļøš©µ
And just like that, another summer at the pool has come to an end.
Itās hard to explain how quiet this place feels when summer is over. For months, itās filled with noise, laughter, splashing, music, conversations, and memoriesāand then suddenly, itās still.
Iām going to miss every laugh, every smile, and every conversation.Iāll miss every Hot Pocket, corn dog, and pizza served from the concession stand. Iāll miss watching the kids enjoy their Dippinā Dots like itās the greatest thing theyāve ever tasted. š
Iāll miss the summer sun shining across the water. Iāll miss the cannonballs, the splashes, and that unmistakable BOOM of the diving board all day long.
And yes⦠believe it or not, Iāll even miss yelling:
āQUIT RUNNING!ā
āQuit doing that!ā
āStop doing this!ā š
Iāll miss watching families spend their summer days together. Iāll miss seeing kids walk through those gates excited to spend another day swimming with their friends.
And Iām going to miss hearingā¦
āHey Jamie!"
āHey Jamie!ā
āJamie!ā
āHey Jamie!ā
ā¦approximately 5,000 times a day. šš©µ
Iāll even miss the exhaustion that comes with it all.The long days, the early mornings, the late nights, the constant running around, and going home completely worn outāonly to get up and do it all over again. Thereās a special kind of tired that comes from pouring everything you have into something you love, and somehow, I know Iām going to miss that too.
Some days are exhausting. Some days are chaotic. Some days I probably hear my name more times than any human being should. But when the season ends, those are the exact things I find myself missing.
This pool is so much more than water and concrete. Itās summers spent growing up. Itās friendships. Itās families. Itās childhood memories. Itās a place where our community comes together.
And everything this pool has todayāand everything it will continue to have in the futureāis because of this community and the incredible support you continue to give us. Every improvement, every sponsored day, every event, every donation, and every opportunity weāve been able to give these kids has happened because people believe this pool is worth having.
The Richwood City Pool simply would not be what it is today without all of you.š©µ
You show up. You donate. You sponsor. You volunteer. You share our posts. You bring your families through the gates. You encourage us when things get difficult. And you continue to remind me why all those exhausting days are worth it.
Iām incredibly lucky that, for a few months every year, I get a front-row seat to all of it.
So for nowā¦
Peace out, Richwood City Pool. āļøš¦
Thank you for another summer full of memoriesāand thank you to this community for continuing to believe in this little pool and helping us make it better year after year.
The water will get quiet, the gates will close, and the summer sun will fadeābut before we know it, weāll be opening those gates again.
See you next summer. š©µāļøšāāļø
And when I hear that first āHEY JAMIE!ā of the seasonā¦
I already know Iāll smile. ā¤ļø
