Indian Wells Valley TV Booster

Indian Wells Valley TV Booster Indian Wells Valley TV Booster transmits free TV & FM radio signals from the south edge of the valley The Booster’s stations blanket the Indian Wells Valley.

IWV TV Booster transmits free TV & FM radio signals from the
south edge of the valley. An outdoor UHF TV antenna aimed south
is needed to receive all our TV signals. These
broadcast signals are intended for free use by anyone equipped to
use them. The TV Booster covers the cost of running and improving
its services, thanks to facilities supplied by the Navy and donations of
residents and local org

anizations. All the UHF and FM transmitters
and FCC licenses are paid for and operated by the TV Booster. We
are all unpaid volunteers. Our 15 translator stations at Laurel Mountain carry 49 digital TV
channels, several not available from cable or satellite TV. About a
third of the Booster’s channels are in high definition (free at the TV
Booster, as always). Two of the Booster’s translators bring local TV
stations. The first is from city hall, carrying city council, planning
commission, and school board meetings; it also hosts board meetings
of the IWV Groundwater Sustainability Agency. The second is TV
station KZGN, carrying 3 channels of programming. Our eight FM radio signals fill program needs unmet by local
radio stations. For example, we feature jazz at 96.7 MHz, classical
music at 107.1 MHz, and two NPR news stations; station KOST was
moved to 94.7 MHz.

Good news! MeTV channels 54.1–54.6 and MeTV+ channel 6.1 were restored and returned to normal operation at approximately 7:00 AM local time today.

The outage was caused by a network issue affecting the feed we receive from the Chicago area. We appreciate everyone's patience while the problem was being resolved.

As always, thank you to our wonderful Indian Wells Valley community for supporting your free over-the-air TV and radio system, the IWV TV Booster.

Service Update – Saturday, 2:30 PM

MeTV channels 54.1 – 54.5 and MeTV+ channel 6.1 are currently off the air.

Our local TV Booster equipment is operating normally; however, the programming feeds we receive via the internet are being affected by a network outage in the Chicago area, where these signals originate.

At this time, we have not been provided with an estimated time for restoration. We are monitoring the situation closely and will post updates here as soon as additional information becomes available.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this issue is being resolved.

The TV Booster volunteers successfully completed scheduled preventive maintenance on Laurel Mountain this morning.

During the maintenance visit, the large UHF receive antenna on the south side of the mountain was tested for proper gain and signal-to-noise performance and adjusted to ensure optimal reception. The FM translator systems were also inspected and tested for proper output power.

While the overall system continues to operate adequately, our team found that several of the older FM translators are no longer producing optimal power levels. These aging units will eventually need to be replaced to maintain the quality and reliability of the radio services our community enjoys.

As replacement costs can be significant, the TV Booster team will be reaching out in the future for community support and donations to help fund these important upgrades. We will keep everyone informed as plans develop.

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers for donating their time and expertise to keep these valuable services operating for our community.

📺 IWV TV Booster Scheduled Maintenance Notice:
Saturday, May 23, 2026 | Approximately 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Your IWV TV Booster volunteers will be returning to Laurel Mountain this Saturday morning to perform maintenance on one of our TV receiving antennas. This preventive maintenance is part of our ongoing effort to improve the quality and reliability of the free over-the-air television service provided to our community.
During the maintenance period, the following channels may experience intermittent outages:
KCBS (2), KNBC (4), KTLA (5), KCET (28), KMEX (34), KFTR (46), KOCE (50), KVEA (52), and KDOC (56).
Other TV Booster channels should remain unaffected, as they are received through different antenna systems.

If time permits, our volunteers will also perform maintenance on the FM radio translator system. This work may result in brief, intermittent interruptions to some FM radio stations in the valley. Any outages should be short in duration and limited to one station at a time.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our volunteers work to keep your free TV and FM radio services reliable for the entire community.
Thank you for your continued support of the IWV TV Booster!

📡 Maintenance Complete—And Your Signal Just Got Better!

Your TV Booster volunteers wrapped up this morning’s work on Laurel Mountain around 10:30 AM—and it was a productive one.

Working on the south side of the mountain, the team cleaned, fine-tuned, and realigned our UHF receive antenna. This upgrade helps us pull in a stronger, clearer signal from Mount Wilson—nearly 100 miles away.

Once received, those signals are carefully processed through our translator systems and sent back down into the Indian Wells Valley for your free, over-the-air viewing.

It’s all part of keeping your local TV service running strong. Thanks for your support! 🙌

This work is part of our ongoing effort to improve reception on some of our weaker TV channels. During this time, you may notice a few brief, intermittent outages on select stations.

We appreciate your patience as we continue working to maintain and enhance free over-the-air TV service for the Indian Wells Valley.

Thank you to our patient viewers this morning—we truly appreciate your understanding!

What should have been a quick, five-minute fix to a network router turned into a longer repair than expected, resulting in an outage on the MeTV and MeTV+ channels. The good news: everything is now fully repaired, running smoothly, and more reliable than ever.

While our TV Booster volunteers were hard at work on the mountaintop, they even had a visit from a “seasoned” field engineer who stopped by to supervise and make sure everything was done just right—always good to have an extra set of experienced eyes!

The volunteers also had a clear view of the fire scar that was left from last night's fire in the El Paso Mountains near Sheep Springs. We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to the firefighters whose quick and dedicated response helped bring the situation under control.

Thanks again to our viewers for their patience and continued support!
