10/03/2026

On Friday October 2, 2026, at approximately 10:10 pm Mr. Travis Brown, 18, of Hardeeville SC, was shot in the vicinity of Bus loop Road and Red Dam Road in Hardeeville. He was transported to Coastal Carolina Hospital and pronounced dead from his injuries.
Hardeeville Police Department is leading the investigation assisted by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Jasper County Coroner’s Office.

09/08/2026

On Monday September 7, 2026, around 8:30 pm, Mr. Justin Witherspoon, of Lake City SC, was involved in a single vehicle accident on I-95, mile marker 28 southbound. His truck left the roadway and struck several trees along the right shoulder of the road. Mr. Witherspoon was pronounced dead at the scene. SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

On Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, at approximately 10:35 pm Jassiry Diaz, 20 months old, of Tillman SC, was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Tillman Road in Ridgeland SC. She was transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center and later died from her injures on Monday, Sept 7, 2026. SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

The Jasper County Coroner’s Office extends our prayers to her family, and all involved.

On Saturday, Sept 5, 2026, Mr. Manuel DeJesus, 44, of Bluffton SC, was involved in an incident with a dump truck he was working on. He was transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville and later died from the result of his injures.
Hardeeville Police Department is investigating the accident.
The Jasper County Coroner’s Office extends our sympathy and prayers to the family.

08/25/2026

On Saturday August 22, 2026, Mr. Daniel Swett, 63, of Hardeeville SC was found in his home in Hardeeville by emergency personnel, when they responded to a residential structure fire. Mr. Swett was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Jasper County Sheriffs Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are investigating the incident.

08/25/2026

On Thursday August 20, 2026, Mr. Laurente Brown, 39, of Beaufort SC, was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Independence Boulevard and John Smith Road. Mr. Brown was life flighted to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah GA. He was pronounced dead after arriving in the emergency room.
Hardeeville Police Department is investigating the accident.

On Sunday June 14, 2026, Mr. Mason Meadows, 27, of St. Augustine FL. was involved in a two vehicle collision. The collision occurred around 2200 hours in the vicinity of Kato Bay Road and Okeetee Fire Road near Ridgeland SC. Mr. Meadows was pronounced dead at the Scene.
SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
The Coroners office would like to extend our condolences and prayers for all those involved.

On Sunday May 24, 2026, the Jasper County Coroners Office was contacted by Coastal Carolina Hospital to inform us of the passing of Mr. Antoine T. Johnson, 31, of Ridgeland SC. Mr. Johnson was involved in an ATV accident earlier that day and was transported to the hospital where he passed away.

The SC Highway patrol along with the coroner’s office is investigating the incident.

The coroner’s office extends our condolences and prayer to all involved.

05/14/2026

On May 9th at approximately 10:45 pm, law enforcement and emergency personnel were dispatched to Alligator Alley, after a passing motorist discovered a fire near the road. When police arrived, they discovered the body of Ms. Aveonnah Moore to be deceased and partially burned. After the investigation at the scene, the Jasper County Coroners office took custody of Ms. Moore pending an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The results of the autopsy revealed Ms. Moore's cause of death is by a gunshot wound.
The coroner's office would like to thank Jasper County Sheriffs office, SLED, and the FBI for assisting us in identifying Ms. Moore and locating her family for notification.
Our sincere condolences and prayers go out to the family during this time of tragedy.

03/10/2026

On Saturday March 07, 2026, the coroners office was contacted by detectives from the sheriffs office in regards to the discovery of skeletal remains in a wooded area near Coosawhatchie and Point South.
The coroner's office will be sending the remains for identification and testing.
