This post by the RP Dems didn’t age well.
The Ridley Park Republican Council delivered a historic tax cut for the residents of Ridley Park. At the time, the new Democratic majority questioned it. “Show me the money,” they said. They even voted to reopen the budget to take another look.
And then? Silence.
Why? Because when they examined the numbers, they found a budget that was solid. There was nothing to fix. Nothing to undo. The work had already been done — and done well.
The previous Republican council made a promise to residents and delivered on it.
The real question now is: what will next year’s budget look like when this council, plagued by inexperience and personal financial mismanagement, is at the helm? Managing a municipal budget demands real-world experience—qualities sorely lacking in two members who still live at home and don’t understand basic budgets or bills, and another whose history of documented financial negligence should concern every taxpayer. Residents deserve leaders who grasp the gravity of fiscal responsibility, not individuals who can’t manage their own finances.
Right now, spending is spiraling out of control. Solicitor and Engineer fees are rising at an alarming rate, and costs continue to surge unchecked. The fiscal discipline that made last year’s tax cut possible is now under direct threat. Without competent oversight, taxpayers will pay the price.
Residents should be watching closely. Sound budgets require experience, restraint, and accountability—none of which are evident in the current council’s track record. At this rate, the budget could unravel faster than anyone expects, and the consequences will be felt in every household.
