While many communities might peg you as one thing, in Rifle you can be who you want to be. We may be headed downtown to go gun shopping, but first stop by the coffee shop to get an espresso. We may go dirt-biking in the afternoon and then get back in time for a world-class show at the Ute Theater. We may be the president of a bank (no tie required) until 5 pm Friday, when we change into camo for the weekend hunting trip. We welcome people of all walks of life to enjoy our western heritage their way. Rifle’s attractions are diverse. The Rifle Creek Valley includes a superb golf course, stunning state parks, and great mountain climbing. Outside our back door are the towering cliffs of the Roan Plateau, the desert scrub of Hubbard Mesa, the high-altitude Flat Tops, trails for every type of rider through sagebrush or aspens, and the Colorado River. In town, we’ve got the best new concert venue in Colorado at the Ute Theater, the revamped Garfield County Fairgrounds, the restaurant, hotel, and shopping options of a regional center, and facilities for small conferences and sports tournaments. Visitors can easily hop on I-70 and make a weekend trip from Denver or Salt Lake City. But once you get to Rifle, you can be off the beaten path in minutes.
