Tonight the voters of the 229th Judicial District made their decision.
While this wasn’t the outcome we hoped for, I respect the will of the voters and congratulate my opponent on the victory.
I also want to sincerely thank every Democratic voter across Starr, Jim Hogg, and Duval counties who came out to participate in this primary election. The simple act of showing up and casting a vote is one of the most important rights we have as Americans. Now more than ever, it’s important that we continue to exercise and protect that right.
Over the past months I had the privilege of meeting thousands of people across this district. I listened to your stories, your concerns, and your hopes for our justice system. Those conversations meant more to me than you can imagine, and I’m deeply grateful for every person who opened their door, shook my hand, offered encouragement, or took the time to vote.
To the volunteers, friends, and family who stood by me every step of the way, thank you. Your belief, your time, and your support carried this campaign further than I could have ever done alone.
Public service has always been about the people of this district, and that will never change for me. I will continue working, serving our community, and doing my part to make our district stronger.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for the support, the prayers, and the encouragement throughout this journey. It truly meant the world to me.
