With recent activity on Facebook and questions surrounding transparency and accountability, I want to address the recent posts that have been made.
I am running on transparency and accountability, but that does not mean making immediate public statements regarding an issue I was not directly involved in and was instead pulled into. I approach situations the same way I approached my career in law enforcement — avoiding knee-jerk reactions and gathering all available facts before reaching conclusions. Complete information and a thorough review are what lead to the truth.
To be clear, I did not create, post, authorize, or direct the posting of that image, nor was it published on behalf of my campaign. Additionally, neither I nor the individual who shared it had any knowledge of the background of the original photograph or any connection to the tragic loss of a young child more than a decade ago.
Any suggestion that the image was intended to mock, reference, or diminish that horrific event is completely false. That tragedy deeply impacted this community, and I would never tolerate disrespect toward the victim, her family, or her memory.
What is disappointing is seeing Sheriff Scott Adams attempt to tie this tragedy to my campaign in order to create a false and politically charged narrative about my character and the values of those supporting me. Instead of addressing legitimate concerns surrounding the leadership and performance of the sheriff’s office, this appears to be an effort to distract the public by turning a painful tragedy into a political weapon.
I have also been asked to denounce my campaign treasurer because of this post. He is an individual exercising his First Amendment right and has consistently been criticized for doing so. He speaks openly based on research and experiences, he has documentation to support his statements. Disagreement with what is being said does not automatically make it untrue. He has openly supported multiple political candidates over time based on his own views and research. He does not hold a position within my command structure and is not my campaign manager. His role within my campaign is limited to handling the financial and logistical responsibilities required of a treasurer.
Our community deserves honest conversations about public safety, accountability, transparency, and the future direction of the sheriff’s office — not political attacks rooted in misrepresentation and division.
I remain committed to running a campaign focused on professionalism, integrity, accountability, and transparency with the people.
