The West Suburban Consolidated Dispatch Center (WSCDC) is the 9-1-1 center (primary PSAP – public safety answering point) responsible for dispatching police, fire, and EMS for the Villages of Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park. WSCDC is the primary dispatch center for MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) Division 11 and is a recognized Call Center Partner with the National Center for Missing an

d Exploited Children and the Missing Kids Readiness Project. All Telecommunicators are certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers with Priority Dispatch, Inc. and licensed through Loyola Medical Center with the Illinois Department of Public Health and have APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator I certification. All Communications Training Officers (CTO) have their APCO CTO certification. All staff members have completed FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) training. Telecommunicators monitor fire and burglar alarms for approximately one hundred seventy-five (175) businesses and residents in the three member villages. WSCDC is a proud member of IL-TERT (Illinois Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce), an intergovernmental mutual aid program intended to send Telecommunicators to disaster situations in Illinois and throughout the country, as well as provide Telecommunicators to other Illinois 9-1-1 centers that encounter crisis situations. Our professionally trained and skilled Telecommunicators are ready to answer your call for assistance and dispatch the appropriate resources to meet your needs.

The Oak Park Fire Department and Oak Park Police Department are responding to a fire with collapsed sections of wall in the 200 block of S. Maple Ave. Additional support is being provided by 10 other jurisdictions as it has been elevated to a box alarm.

Residents are asked to avoid the area at this time.

UPDATE: Oak Park Police continue to investigate a shooting that occurred in the midst of a funeral procession at about 1 p.m. Saturday on the 900 block of Madison St. that left four Chicago men with gunshot wounds. Police officials say the funeral procession was traveling westbound on Madison from Chicago to a cemetery in Des Plaines when passengers in a white pickup truck pulled alongside one of the vehicles in the procession and began firing weapons. Madison Street remains closed near the crime scene as the investigation continues. More information is available at www.oak-park.us/61023incident.

Oak Park Police are responding to a shooting that occurred this afternoon on the 900 block of Madison St. as part of a funeral procession. The preliminary indication is that four people were shot. The incident is believed to be targeted amongst members of the procession with no bystanders among the injured. Madison is closed in both directions in the vicinity at this time. The West Suburban Consolidated Dispatch Center (WSCDC) is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time Telecommunicator. WSCDC is a primary PSAP and answers calls and
dispatches Police, Fire and EMS for the Villages of Forest Park, Oak Park, and River Forest.

Applicants must be able to type a minimum of 35 words-per-minute, successfully pass a written examination, criminal background check, drug and alcohol screenings, hearing tests, psychological tests, and be able to obtain full-access LEADS and Emergency Medical Dispatch certification. Employees must reside within the Illinois counties of Cook, DuPage, McHenry, Lake, Kane,
Kendall, LaSalle and Will.

Full-time Telecommunicators work 12-hour shifts with rotating days off (0630-1830 or 1830-0630). While in training, it may be necessary to switch shifts periodically until permanent assignment is made when training is complete.

Telecommunicator salary range is $52,120 – $76,471 after completion of 6 years. WSCDC offers HMO or PPO medical plans, medical flexible spending, dental and eye insurance, life insurance,
IMRF, and ICMA (457).
