You may have noticed a bunch of volunteers at town days….Gospel Hope Church brought volunteers from states all over the country - Ohio, Vermont, Georgia - to name a few. They made town days such an incredible experience and we are so thankful for the partnership with Gospel Hope Church!

Pictured is Riverton’s Fire Marshall Watkins!! We’re very blessed to have him, our Unified firefighters and RPD protecting our community and the greater area.

A cat used up quite a bit of its 9 lives after surviving last week's apartment fire in Midvale, and then waited days for it to be rescued.

Wow! What an incredible Independence Day week of events, service, and hometown pride. I hope everyone enjoyed the Semisesquicentennial of our country and felt the amazing community spirit of Riverton that I and so many others have felt for decades. The past week I went to the Riverton Arts Council’s production of 1776 with my sister, enjoyed every night of the Riverton Rodeo, had a blast in the best parade in the State, and capped it off serving breakfast on Independence Day with my fellow council members and city staff to what felt like thousands of people! I can’t wait for next year!

Thinking of my friends over at Unified Fire with everything going on. Adam and I played lacrosse together at Riverton High and I had the pleasure of joining him at “Fire School” earlier this year, learning about Unified, how they train, and how they take care of their physical and mental health.

We’re lucky to have such devoted people like our Riverton Fire Marshall Wade Watkins keeping us and the community safe. Praying for our firefighters and for our state during this scary fire year!!

Growing up, my dad would take me and my siblings - what felt like weekly - on slurpee runs to the 7-11 on 126 in Riverton. Now I live within walking distance from a brand new one!

Thank you to the South Valley Chamber for the amazing opportunity to speak at the ribbon cutting of our new 7-11 right off bangerter and 134. Opal loved her first ribbon cutting too 😁 thank you for choosing Riverton as your next new home 7-11!

I recently had the opportunity to meet with several constituents in District 3 to talk about the transportation safety issues happening in their neighborhood. They even had some pretty scary videos caught on their home cameras (look at the videos in the comments).

Immediate-term solution: I put out a couple dozen “Drive 25, Stay Alive” signs to catch the attention of speeders and remind them that our kids are here and deserve to be able to play in their neighborhoods safely.

Short/medium-term solution: Riverton staff is currently looking at all the options - striping, crosswalks, flashing speed signs, flashing stop signs, and more.

Long-term solution: Once the construction is finished, the city will prepare, finalize, and officially complete a speed study, which will give the city concrete data to make realistic improvements to safety on the road.

Memorial Day is always a special day for me and my family.

Sara has been playing with the Utah Pipe Band for a couple of years now, and every Memorial Day the band plays at multiple cemeteries across the valley. I was able to attend a couple with Sara and then I joined my City Council colleagues (and my dad!!) at the Riverton Memorial Day event.

Thankful for all those who served and sacrificed for our beautiful country.

Wanted to update everyone. You have probably received the advisory from the City to boil water due to a potential cross contamination issue. My understanding is there was a home with an illegal cross connection between culinary and secondary water systems. Something went wrong with the connection and secondary water back-flowed into the culinary system.

We have incredible staff who found out due to detection of reverse flow through our smart meter software and were able to quickly resolve it. At this time, nothing has been detected in our culinary water system, but out of an abundance of caution, we want residents to follow the boil advisory.

The standard process is that it takes approximately 48 hours for sample results to confirm there is no contamination.

Earlier this year, I was invited to speak to a youth group at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in West Jordan about serving your community. It went really well, and after, they all asked what they could do to serve.

Yesterday, these youth, their parents, and my colleague councilwoman Smith all got together to place flags at every veterans grave in the Riverton cemetery! It was an amazing act of service, especially seeing all the tributes to the people who gave it all for our freedoms - including my Grandpa Amundsen, who served in the Philippines during WW2.

The fact that these kids took two hours out of their Saturday, no complaints, and were all excited to serve really filled my heart.
