I can’t believe how bad I sound, considering I used to sing in a choir when I was younger, but at least we tried and it was very special to try and sing with Lily for her first try at Karaoke.

Lily and I had a great weekend walking along another section of the Appalachian Trail from Iron Mountain Gap to Carvers Gap.

Our first day of walking came to 15 miles and on the second day we completed the hike with a further 5 miles.

We camped at Ash Gap, which was an area of woodland with some decent areas to pitch a tent. We arrived 30 minutes before sunset and rushed to pitch our tent, gather firework for a camp fire and string up our rope to hang out bear bag ( bag full of food so it’s out of their reach )

We saw all sorts of new fungi, plants and animals that make this kind of walking interesting.

I think we might have heard a coyote or a large owl at night which was a bit spooky, but no sign of bears ( luckily )

Lily and I have driven to the Station at 19e in Tennessee to start our next section of the Appalachian Trail. When we arrived we got a quick lift about 4 miles from the hostel so that we could walk back, as it was a section we were missing 🙂

Tomorrow we are starting out next back packing hike from Iron Mountain Gap.

We had a great first walk along the Appalachian Trail, hopefully Lily feels as inspired as I do to try and do more.
