This evening, we honor our Junior Commissioners, a diverse group of teenagers from varied backgrounds, cultures, and regions of the county. Collectively, they embody the diversity of Halifax County and provide the commissioner with a unique perspective from our youth. These teenagers and leaders demonstrated remarkable courage in sharing their ideas and articulating the needs of our county as they perceive them. I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation to Commissioner Redding for spearheading the creation and implementation of the Junior Commissioner Program. I also wish to acknowledge Commissioners Davis and Deputy County Manager Christina Webb for their invaluable contributions to the development of this exceptional team of young leaders. To all the Junior Commissioners, I want to assure you that I carefully considered your comments during public speaking opportunities and took note of your concerns regarding public health, public recreation, job opportunities, and mental health care for teenagers.
