Chief Engineer Charles Johnson graduated from High School in 1979. That night, instead of going out to celebrate, he literally came straight to the Firehouse in his cap and gown and sat in front of the station all night. That is the type of commitment that Charles had to the Robbins Fire Department and the community, he will truly be missed.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former Chief Engineer Charles Johnson, who passed away early yesterday morning. Charles proudly served the Robbins Fire Department for 42 years, from June 1979 through June 2021.

Chief Engineer Johnson dedicated more than four decades of service to our department and community. His commitment, dedication, and service will not be forgotten.

Please keep his family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you all.

This past week, the Robbins Fire Department participated in driver training to strengthen the skills that help us safely and effectively serve our community. Our members had the opportunity to train using a state-of-the-art driving simulator, allowing us to practice a variety of real-world emergency driving scenarios.

A big thank you to the Illinois Fire Service Institute for bringing the driving simulator trailer to our department and providing this valuable training. We appreciate your continued support in helping us improve our skills and better serve the residents of Robbins.

Today the Robbins Fire Department alongside the Robbins Police Dept. and other agencies had the honor of providing some special services for today’s Street naming ceremony for the legendary, Robbins very own Dwyane Wade.

Today was a great day to host the annual Pet Vaccination clinic at the Firehouse.

On this day 29 years ago, May 16th, 1997, The Robbins Fire Department suffered a terrible loss. Lieutenant Lawrence Hobson gave the ultimate sacrifice in the Line of Duty while fighting a fire in the Village. Today marks the 5th Annual Lieutenant Lawrence Hobson Day in the Village of Robbins.

Continue to rest well Lieutenant Hobson. You will never be forgotten.

It all starts with us as kids dreaming of becoming Firefighters, EMTs, or Paramedics, and as we get older, it’s up to us to show them what that path can look like. Thank you to Kellar Middle School in Robbins for inviting us out today to share the rewarding career of a Firefighter and EMT with your students. We love the opportunity to inspire the next generation!
