Earlier today, ABC 6 News - KAAL TV recognized our Executive Director, Alex Hurlebaus, with a Community Excellence Award for his dedication to serving individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

While we are incredibly proud to see Alex honored, anyone who knows him knows he would be the first to point out that this recognition belongs to far more than one person.

As Alex shared, "All that really reflects is all the individuals whose name isn't on that award. Every time a person showed up after a hard day, came back the next day and gave more."

This award is a testament to our staff, volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters who make The Landing MN's work possible every day. It reflects the compassion of a community that believes everyone deserves dignity, support, and a soft place to land.

Please join us in congratulating Alex on this well-deserved recognition and celebrating everyone who helps make our mission a reality.

For several years, Beau has participated in the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce's Lemonade Day, using the proceeds from his lemonade stand to support The Landing MN.

After this year's stand wrapped up, Beau and his family reached out to ask what items were most needed at our Day Center—and then they went shopping! Last week, they delivered an incredible collection of donations that will directly support our guests.

Beau's mom shared, "Thank you for allowing us to continue the lesson of loving your neighbor and fellow human beings. This has become one of Beau's favorite summer projects."

We are so grateful to Beau and his family for their compassion, generosity, and commitment to helping others. Thank you for making a difference in our community, one cup of lemonade at a time! 🍋💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an incredible morning of learning and conversation about the many facets of homelessness at Assisi Height's Spirituality Center.

We are especially grateful to our presenters for sharing their expertise, insights, and experiences. More than 85 community members came together to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Thoughtful questions were asked. New ideas emerged. Connections were made. Most importantly, there was a shared sense that these conversations matter—and that we need more opportunities like this to learn from one another and work together toward solutions.

Some stories stay with you long after someone moves on to a new chapter.

Earlier this year, former Client Advocate Taylor stepped away from her role to focus on family and other professional responsibilities. But even now, she continues to volunteer, advocate for our mission, and carry the people she met here in her heart.

Reflecting on her experience, Taylor shared:

"The job really didn't feel like a chore that I had to go to. It felt like I was on my way somewhere to see my friends."

Her words offer a powerful reminder that homelessness is not just an issue — it is a human experience. Behind every story is a person deserving of dignity, connection, and hope.

We're honored to share Taylor's reflections on empathy, relationships, and the lessons she learned during her time at The Landing MN.

The TABLE creates opportunities for individuals with lived experience of homelessness to build community, find support, share their perspectives, and advocate for meaningful change. Through connection, conversation, and relationship-building, they help ensure that voices too often overlooked are heard and valued.

In this interview, co-founder Collin, along with Laurissa and Jennifer, discuss the importance of belonging, validation, and community, as well as an exciting new mural project that will help tell the story of the people they serve.

At The Landing MN, we know that addressing homelessness requires collaboration, compassion, and listening to those with lived experience. We're grateful for organizations like The TABLE that continue to create spaces where those voices can lead the conversation.

Take a few minutes to check out the segment and learn more about their work. We think you'll be inspired.

Collin, Laurissa and Red from 'The TABLE' (The Team of Advisors Bringing Lived Experience) talk about the beautiful mural The TABLE is bringing to the Med City as well as share how they are bridging the gap between people who want to help and people who would benefit from a support system.

🎉 1,000 Posts Later... And We're Just Getting Started. 🎉

Today marks a small but meaningful milestone for The Landing MN: our 1,000th Facebook post.

Over the course of those 999 posts, we've shared a lot more than updates. We've shared stories.

Stories of resilience. Stories of hope. Stories of community members stepping up to care for their neighbors. Stories of volunteers, donors, staff, partners, and guests whose lives have intersected in ways that remind us what compassion can accomplish.

We've celebrated successes, highlighted challenges, welcomed new staff, thanked countless supporters, promoted events, advocated for those experiencing homelessness, and worked to educate our community about the realities our neighbors face every day.

When The Landing MN first opened its doors, our mission was simple: create a place where people could be treated with dignity, respect, and love. Every post since then has been another opportunity to share that mission with the community around us.

But these posts were never really about us.

They've been about the people who make this work possible.

To everyone who has liked, shared, commented, volunteered, donated, attended an event, taken a tour, or simply paused long enough to learn more about homelessness in our community—thank you. Your engagement helps raise awareness, challenge misconceptions, build empathy, and connect more people to this mission.

Looking back through 1,000 posts, we're reminded just how much can happen when a community chooses to care.

And looking ahead, we're excited for what comes next.

More stories to tell. More lives to celebrate. More opportunities to learn, advocate, connect, and serve together.

Here's to the next 1,000 posts—and to the community that makes every one of them worth sharing. 💙
