¡Ya está aquí el calendario de junio de la biblioteca... y también nuestro Programa de Lectura de Verano: «Desentierra una historia»!

Este mes de junio tendremos muchísimos eventos, tales como las sesiones temáticas especiales de «Cuentos para preescolares» (Preschool Storytimes) todos los miércoles a las 10 a.m.; actividades para adolescentes y preadolescentes (Teens and Tweens) cada dos martes a las 3 p.m.; y el «Café del Primer Viernes» (First Friday Coffee), patrocinado por el Crown Garden Club, el día 5 a las 9 a.m. El tan esperado «Día del Arte para Adultos» tendrá lugar el día 11 a las 2 p.m., y el viernes 12, el paleontólogo Liam Norris, del Texas Science & Natural History Museum, presentará el emocionante programa «¿Qué es un dinosaurio?». El jueves 18 de junio, a las 3 p.m., Brittany Perry, de Texas Parks and Wildlife, presentará el programa «Identificación de aves de jardín» (Backyard Bird ID), destacando la importancia de la fauna nativa. El día 25 se celebrará el «Encuentro para la educación en casa» (Homeschool Hangout), y el día 26, a las 2 p.m., el equipo de Química de Texas A&M nos visitará para realizar ¡unos experimentos increíbles! Michael Foux, de Austin Reptile Shows, cerrará el mes de junio con broche de oro trayendo a la biblioteca una gran variedad de reptiles vivos el día 29, a las 2 p.m.

The library's June calendar is here... and so is the Summer Reading Program, Unearth a Story!

There are so many events happening this June, such as specially themed Preschool Storytimes every Wednesday at 10 a.m., Teens and Tweens every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. and First Friday Coffee sponsored by the Crown Garden Club on the 5th at 9 a.m.! A long awaited Adult Art Day takes place on the 11th at 2 p.m., and on Friday the 12th, paleontologist Liam Norris from the Texas Science & Natural History Museum presents the exciting "What is a Dinosaur?" program! On Thursday, June 18th at 3 p.m., Brittany Perry from Texas Parks and Wildlife will be presenting the Backyard Bird ID program, highlighting the importance of native wildlife. Homeschool Hangout is happening on the 25th, and the Texas A&M Chemistry comes in on the 26th at 2 p.m. to show off crazy experiments! Michael Foux from Austin Reptile Shows finishes the month of June off with a bang by bringing many live reptiles to the library on the 29th at 2 p.m!

Make sure to come into the library and register for the Reading Log Challenge starting Monday, June 1st to receive a free book donated by Half Price Books while supplies last!

Come join us for the Touch-a-Truck event to kick off the Summer Reading Program at the The East Bell Taphouse parking lot TODAY, May 29th, from 9 to 11 AM! Have fun exploring vehicles from Public Works, Rockdale Police Department, the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, and even an ambulance! Visit the Taphouse for some lunch and head over to the library afterwards to pick up free books, sign up for library cards, and pick up the brand new June calendar! 🚓🚒🚜🚑

The Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library is excited to announce that we have been awarded the 2026 Summer at the Library Grant sponsored by Texas Library Association and H-E-B for the second year in a row! Not only will this grant help to maintain all the programs for the Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program but also bring new books, activities and prizes for all to enjoy.

¡La Biblioteca Conmemorativa Lucy Hill Patterson se complace en anunciar que hemos sido galardonados con la subvención «Summer at the Library» de 2026 —patrocinada por la Asociación de Bibliotecas de Texas y H-E-B— por segundo año consecutivo!
