Choose Respect Montgomery includes four major components:

1. The Choose Respect Annual Event is held in the spring of each year. The Choose Respect Montgomery video contest is open to teens in middle and high school and challenges them to research the issue of teen dating violence and to create a 60 second video on the topic. Winning submissions receive cash prizes and recognition for their scho

ol.

3. Expect Respect is a 45 minute workshop for teens to learn about healthy relationships, abusive behaviors, consent, how to help a friend and where to go for help. To get more information or to request the workshop, please email [email protected]

4. The Choose Respect Initiative also assists schools with bringing leadership programs to athletic teams. Coaching Boys Into Men equips coaches to teach athletes that violence never equals strength. The program provides strategies, scenarios, and resources. Athletes as Leaders empowers female athletes to take an active role in promoting healthy relationships and ending sexual violence.

Today at , we honored the legacy of our former board member by presenting the Cheryl Kravitz Voice for Respect Award.

Choose Respect was deeply important to Cheryl. She believed strongly that helping young people understand respect, recognize warning signs of unhealthy relationships, and know where to turn for help could make a lasting difference.

Cheryl’s passion for this work and her dedication to our community touched many lives. By lifting up student voices through this award, we are proud to honor Cheryl and the impact she made in Montgomery County.

Her commitment to education, prevention, and supporting young people continues to inspire this work every day. We are grateful for Cheryl’s lasting impact on this work and the many lives she touched in our community.
