Join us for a special evening tonight (5/19) at 6:00 pm with Reeshemah Norfleet, Director of Community Initiatives at Discovering Amistad. Discovering Amistad is a nonprofit organization that teaches the lessons of the 1839 Amistad Uprising to advance racial and social justice today. The Amistad Story: Connecticut’s Role in the Fight for Freedom is an engaging program that takes participants on a journey through the lives of the 53 Africans, how their freedom was interrupted, and how Connecticut played a major role in the abolitionist movement. This program will also include an Amistad Education Kit, featuring replica artifacts and visual aids that help participants fully engage with the history.
