🚨 Caught Red-Handed! 🚨

Big shoutout to Elijah Scheel for paying attention and helping stop a theft in progress.

According to Smith’s Outdoor Services, a suspicious truck was spotted at their storage area, and the suspect was allegedly caught attempting to steal a trailer loaded with aluminum tubing, wire, and approximately 10 batteries. Other items reportedly targeted included a ladder, a brand-new deer stand, new trailer tires and wheels, and a battery from an air compressor.

Needless to say, he picked the wrong place today. 😅

This is a good reminder that people work hard for what they own. Looking out for your neighbors and reporting suspicious activity can make a huge difference.

👏 Nice work by everyone involved in stopping this before more property was taken.

🌞☕ Good Morning Phelps County! We made it!

Congratulations to everyone who survived last night’s storm without ending up in Kansas, Arkansas, or somebody else’s Facebook live video. 🌪️😂

It’s officially June 1st, which means we’re halfway through the year already. Somewhere out there, that New Year’s resolution is sitting in the corner covered in dust saying, “Y’all forgot about me, didn’t ya?” 🤣

The storm has moved on, the birds are chirping, and the weather has decided to act like nothing happened. Meanwhile half of Phelps County is outside this morning checking:
✔️ Fence still standing
✔️ Trampoline still in the yard
✔️ Trash can located
✔️ Neighbor’s lawn chair returned from orbit

If your lawn grew 6 inches overnight, don’t worry. At this point Missouri grass is growing faster than gas prices and Facebook rumors.

Here’s to a brand new month full of sunshine, questionable weather forecasts, deer waiting to jump in front of your vehicle, and whatever random chaos I-44 decides to provide us today.

🌤️ PHELPS COUNTY DAILY REPORT – SUNDAY EDITION 🌤️

Good morning, Phelps County.

The weather today appears to be participating in its favorite Missouri game: “Make Up Your Mind.”

One minute you’ll be thinking, “This ain’t bad at all.” Five minutes later you’ll be checking the radar, looking at the sky, and asking your neighbor if they know a guy with a boat.

Meanwhile:

🚗 I-44 remains the official sponsor of brake lights.

🦌 Deer are still conducting surprise inspections along every county road.

☕ Coffee consumption is expected to reach emergency levels before noon.

🌽 The corn is growing, the grass is growing faster, and somehow the weeds are growing faster than both.

🐿️ Local squirrels continue operating with zero supervision and unlimited confidence.

Whatever you’re doing today, enjoy it. Take the back roads, wave at your neighbors, and try not to end up as the topic of tomorrow’s post.

🎡 Phelps County Fair Check-In! 🎡

Alright folks, let’s hear it…

What’s your honest opinion of the fair this year? 👍👎

Seems like there’s been a lot of back-and-forth already. Some people are saying they’re having a great time, while others say it just isn’t what it used to be.

💰 Prices? Well… you might need a small loan for a funnel cake and lemonade these days.

🪑 Seating? Some folks say they can’t see half the show because of people standing in front of them.

🎠 Rides, food, events, demo derby, entertainment… what’s your verdict?

Has the fair gotten better, worse, or is it about the same as it’s always been?

Keep it civil and respectful. We all know nobody agrees on anything in Phelps County except that the weather forecast is probably wrong. 😂

☀️ PHELPS COUNTY DAILY REPORT – SATURDAY EDITION ☀️

Good morning, Phelps County.

The weather today is expected to be mostly cooperative, which means Mother Nature has downgraded us from “survive” mode to “go touch grass” mode.

🌤️ Plenty of sunshine.
🌡️ Warm temperatures.
🚗 Traffic on I-44 will continue its usual competition to see who can get to the next exit 14 seconds faster.

Local forecast:

* 73% chance somebody says, “We needed this weather.”
* 91% chance somebody fires up the grill.
* 100% chance a mosquito finds you before you find it.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Phelps County:

🐿️ A squirrel is currently crossing a highway with more confidence than most drivers.

🚜 Somebody started a “quick 20-minute project” this morning that’s now a full weekend commitment.

🍺 Someone swore they were staying home today and is already putting on their boots looking for something to get into.

🏁 And don’t forget the Phelps County Fair Demolition Derby tonight!

Nothing says small-town entertainment quite like spending an evening watching perfectly good vehicles get turned into scrap metal while the crowd argues over who should’ve won. If you’ve never smelled gasoline, dirt, funnel cakes, and poor financial decisions all at the same time, tonight’s your chance. 🤣

🎉 THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY, PHELPS COUNTY! 🎉

We made it.

Somehow we survived:
✅ The weather changing its mind 14 times
✅ The traffic on I-44 trying to become modern art
✅ The group page arguments nobody asked for
✅ That one gas station trip that somehow cost $47
✅ Whatever fresh chaos Missouri decided to unlock this week

Now it’s time to kick back, fire up the grill, hit the creek, go fishing, mow grass you swore you’d mow last weekend, or simply sit on the porch and judge traffic like a true Missourian.

Remember:
🍻 Have fun
🚗 Don’t drink and drive
🎣 Catch a fish bigger than the story you’ll tell about it
🌽 Stay hydrated
🚔 And if you see flashing blue lights behind you, that’s not the universe congratulating you for making it to Friday.

☀️🌪️ PHELPS COUNTY DAILY UPDATE 🌪️☀️

Good mornin’ Phelps County and the surrounding Ozarks. We’re startin’ the day with that classic Missouri weather package: a little humidity, random wind gusts, and just enough sunshine to make everybody think it’s finally safe to wash the truck… before nature humbles you again by supper time.

Road crews are dodging potholes the size of kiddie pools, somebody’s trampoline is probably halfway to St. James already, and there’s at least a 73% chance somebody on I-44 is currently driving 97 mph with a “BABY ON BOARD” sticker and one bungie cord holding their bumper on.

Meanwhile:

* Somebody’s uncle already fired up the grill at 8 a.m.
* One guy in Doolittle is still wearing a hoodie no matter the temperature.
* The gas station breakfast pizza is somehow holding this county together emotionally.
* And Jerome Hill continues its daily sacrifice of transmissions and brake pads to the Missouri gods.

If you’re headed out today:
🚨 Watch for deer
🚨 Watch for troopers
🚨 Watch for people who drive like they got respawn points

And remember… if the sky turns green and your lawn chair starts floating away, that’s just Mother Nature reminding us who actually runs Phelps County.

Y’all stay safe out there. Hydrate, wave at your neighbors, and try not to end up being the reason traffic is backed up from Rolla to Cuba. 🤝

🚨 PHELPS COUNTY WILDLIFE ALERT ST.JAMES AREA🚨

Now listen… we finally get one cinnamon-colored bear in Saint James and half the county already thinks it escaped from a Buc-ee’s gift shop. 🐻😂

At first nobody believed it…
THEN somebody else said they saw it too running across the road by the rec center like it was late for baseball practice 👀⚾

I didn’t even know Missouri had bears this color. Apparently they’re actually black bears with a cinnamon-colored coat.

Missouri weather so confused lately even the bears are changing paint schemes. Next week we’ll probably have camouflage raccoons and a tie-dye coyote wandering around the Rolla Walmart parking lot.

Honestly sounds like something MDC made up after somebody spilled coffee on a regular bear. 😂

Now the important question…
Has anybody else seen this thing or has Saint James started seeing forest cryptids after 9pm again? 👀🐻

🌤️ Good mornin’ Phelps County and the surrounding Ozarks!

Today’s weather looks about as confused as a tourist trying to merge onto I-44 at Jerome with a camper pullin’ sideways. Little bit of sunshine, little bit of clouds, and just enough humidity to make everybody question whether they showered or just walked outside.

Road crews are out, cops are hidin’, potholes are still conducting suspension inspections for free, and somebody’s uncle already fired up the grill at 9 a.m. because “it smelled like summer.”

If you’re headed through Rolla, Doolittle, or down them backroads toward Newburg, keep an eye out for deer, distracted drivers, and at least one guy hauling scrap metal with zero straps and pure faith holding it together.

Y’all stay safe, stay hydrated, and remember:
If the sky turns green and the wind starts sounding like a freight train… it’s either Missouri weather or somebody trying to pass a semi uphill on Jerome Hill again.
