While tonight wasn’t the outcome I hoped for, I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity. It was such an exciting experience to take a step deeper into local government.
To my kids, friends, and family—thank you for the takeout nights, the long hours, and your patience while I poured myself into this. I couldn’t have done it without you.
To everyone who engaged along the way—through canvassing, questions, conversations, encouragement, having signs in your yard, donations, and support—thank you.
Every one of those moments helped refine my voice, challenge my thinking, and strengthen my sense of why I chose to step forward in the first place.
Someone in my life once described me as a force. During this campaign, I’ve come to see that not as pressure, but as presence—showing up, listening, and staying committed to what matters.
Thank you for your support, your time, and your voice.

🗳 Today, March 24, Tuesday is the first day to vote early with "No excuse" in the Phelps County Municipal election. Never done this before? Here's how you do it: Go to the Phelps County Courthouse. It's at 200 N. Main. It's walkable from campus or downtown Rolla.
Go in the main door and through the security scanner. Then, go to your right on the same floor as the main entrance and into the County Clerk's office.
Let them know at the counter that you want to vote. They will ask to see your ID (you need a MO Driver's or non-Driver's License, passport, or military ID). You will have to verify your address and they will give you your ballot.
NOTE: in order to do this, you already have to be registered to vote. If you don't know for sure if you are registered, go to: https://www.phelpscounty.org/directory/county-clerk/elections/?fbclid=IwdGRjcAQvbI5jbGNrBC9siGV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAABHsrBesYhosYA-YdWZzL1VbUERtWLPeksZ4IMWzFRURz0DWlfIfAyMWY9HIs-_aem_NaCw56IaNKO5PeowQHm9og

Hi, Im Jennifer Kimpel and Im running for Rolla City Council Ward 3.
I grew up in Success, Missouri and have lived in Rolla since 2009. I have three kids, a full calendar, and a life that—like most people’s—doesn’t fit neatly into a paragraph.
Professionally, I started my career in healthcare, earning my nursing education at Texas County Technical Institute, where I graduated in 2005. Working in healthcare taught me early on what responsibility really looks like — showing up, listening, and making decisions that affect real people, often in high-pressure situations.
Today, I work in healthcare education, helping people learn complex systems and do their jobs well in the real world. That work has reinforced the importance of clear communication, listening to those doing the work, and understanding the effects of decisions made at the top.
Outside of work, I’m a mom, a volunteer, and a community member who believes that showing up matters — even when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable. I care about this town not as an idea, but as a place where people live, work, raise kids, and try to build something stable.
I don’t believe leadership is about having all the answers. I believe it’s about asking better questions, listening carefully, and being willing to change course when the facts — or the people — tell you to.
I’m here because I want a city government that feels accessible, thoughtful, and grounded.
Before getting involved in city council, I’ll be honest — I didn’t know who my council representative was, how often council met, or the best way to reach them. That realization stuck with me. If I didn’t know, I knew I probably wasn’t alone.
That’s part of why accessibility and communication matter so much to me. City government shouldn’t feel distant or hard to navigate. I want people in my ward to know who represents them, how to reach me, and to feel like their questions and concerns matter.
If you have questions, comments, concerns, or would like to get involved please message me or you can also reach me at [email protected].
