On Monday night at our monthly meeting, we were honored to be presented a check in the amount of $305 by a very young Miss Polce who sold lemonade and chose to donate her sales to us. Her generosity is remarkable for such a young girl and we greatly appreciate all her hard work. Her father showed his generosity by matching her sales to total the gift of $305. Thank you very much for your support.

DID YOU KNOW 👀 ⁉️ , that our firehouse sits almost exactly 2 miles off the end, in the direct departure path of Runway 33 at the Griffiss International Airport? Aircraft accidents, while not likely, are certainly not impossible.

Despite the heat yesterday evening, 5 members demonstrated their commitment to fulfilling our mission to protect the residents and visitors of the Lake Delta Fire response area against all hazards, by attending ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting) training hosted by 139 FIRE at the airport. This training is focused on the response and mitigation of aviation accidents including the rescue of passengers and crew, as well as fire suppression. In addition to the members trained in the past, these 5 will now be able to effectively manage an aircraft incident if it were to ever occur in our area.

Special thanks to Grandes Pizzeria of Rome for the delicious post training pizza slices, that we somehow managed to get just as many pictures of 😂

Please help us in thanking these 5 and all the partner agencies involved including AmCare Ambulance for their dedication and hard work!

Thank you to First Due Services for spending a hot Monday morning conducting our annual hose testing!

Fire hoses have been in use in the fire industry since the 1600s and have evolved over the years to become more and more durable and lighter compared to their predecessors. With some of these hose now capable of delivering upwards of 1500 gallons of water per minute and laid across rugged terrains, these hoses are under a great deal of stress.

Regular hose testing is vital to the mission of firefighting, ensuring that every single hose on our truck is safe and in the best condition to support our mission of protecting our community. The task of repacking the hose so it can be quickly deployed in an emergency is another challenge in itself.

Hose testing can be a daunting task and even takes some departments up to an entire day or more to complete. This group of fine young men got it done in 2 hours! Thank you gentlemen and keep up the great work!
