At 11:13 PM on March 10, 2026, Mako Sica K9 SAR was requested to assist RST Tribal Police in the search for three young relatives who had been reported missing. With the heavy accumulation of snowfall and the rugged terrain in the area, locating these individuals quickly was a high priority.

Through coordinated operations and clear communication with the relatives of the missing individuals, search teams were able to safely and successfully locate all three individuals in a timely manner.

We would like to thank EPP, RST Emergency Management, volunteers of Mako Sica K9 SAR, and most of all K9 Zeke/RST Tribal Police for their rapid response, teamwork, and collaboration that helped bring three relatives home safely.

Travel Restriction Advisory

Due to rapidly dropping temperatures and widespread black ice creating extremely hazardous roadway conditions, all non-essential travel is not advised at this time. Motorists are advised to limit travel to emergency purposes only. If travel is absolutely necessary, drivers should significantly reduce speeds, increase following distance, and use extreme caution, as road surfaces may appear clear but remain dangerously slick. Emergency responders have already responded to multiple motor vehicle crashes involving injuries tonight, and conditions are expected to remain hazardous as temperatures continue to fall. The public is urged to stay home if possible to prevent additional accidents and to allow emergency personnel to respond quickly to those in need.

TRAVEL ADVISORY 1/18/26 7:30pm

The roads have scattered slippery spots in sheltered areas and most intersections. Use caution when driving as unexpected black ice and packed snow is present.

If you must travel, stay on the main roads, have a weather survival kit, let someone know your destination and ETA. Share your location with a family member or friend. As always buckle up.
