Yesterday, some of our seniors enjoyed the beautiful weather on a nice cruise along the river! 🚤🛟⚓️
This fun day trip included: luxury motor coach transportation, lunch overlooking the St. Clair River at The Voyageur, Huron Lady II cruise from beautiful Port Huron, and a stop at Sweet Tooth of Marine City for a delicious treat!
T-Ball and Men's Softball games for tonight (7/20/2023) are CANCELLED
Thank you American House East I for sponsoring our Senior Center's "Sun, Sand, and Sea" themed Summer Day Camp! The campers had a great "day at the beach" taking part in the games and activities our staff planned, and enjoyed some food and delicious dessert.
Our Senior Center has one more day camp date scheduled that's coming up in August. For more information on availability and how to register, call the Senior Office at (586)777-7177.

Teen Chess Club - today at 4:00pm ♟
Join us and meet fellow chess enthusiasts, from beginners to more advanced players, who share the same passion for the game. Our friendly staff will be present to give you the rundown on all the rules and to play a game with you.

👨👩👧Parents, do you have a little one enrolled in pre-k or kindergarten for the upcoming school year? If you'd like to calm your nerves and get them use to a classroom setting, 🎒 we are offering a couple of Summer Preschool Programs. Ms. Jasmine, our preschool teacher, has 3 classes designed for children 18 months - 5 years old that will be starting up the week of July 10th! We recommend registering early to secure a spot in class.

The American Red Cross is the nation's leader in babysitting training and will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to become a top-notch babysitter. The next class is July 8th from 9:00am-5:00pm.
This class covers Babysitting as a Business, emergency procedures, basic first aid, rescue breathing/choking, diapering of infants, feeding, safety at home, positive discipline skills, games and more! Participants will need to bring a lunch, drink, and a baby doll to diaper.

A big thank you goes out to Clinton Township Parks and Recreationarks and Recreation! Thank you for honoring Connor in such a special way. The parks and recreation community is nothing but the best and we appreciate all the love and support from other local communities. Connor truly touched the lives of many and we know that his legacy will remain strong and continue to make people in this world better.
The Recreation Authority lost one of the best on Tuesday evening. Connor McMahon has been a part of the Recreation Authority family since 2016. He served as a Building Supervisor, Scorekeeper and Summer Day Camp Counselor during his time here. Connor was preparing to start his 6th year as a Camp Counselor for the 2023 Summer Day Camp.
Connor was known for bringing the energy. Each day, he came in with a positive attitude and had intentions of always creating the best day he could. He had a huge impact on others around him whether it was the kids, parents or staff (mostly the kids!). He made everyone a better person. Connor was creative, thoughtful, determined and was a true inspiration to others. His character and personality is a main reason that the Recreation Authority is special place.
As we know, Connor has touched many lives in this community. Please feel free to use this as a safe place to share any photos and/or memories you or your children have of Connor.
Our Senior Center's Summer Day Camp program is back and better than ever! 🌞
Their 2023 camp schedule kicked off this past Tuesday for a "Summer Picnic" themed day filled with a variety of activities, fun & games, and a light breakfast and lunch! A special thank you 👏 goes out to Oak Street Health for sponsoring this event.
If your inner child is ready to come out and play, then sign up for one (or both) of the next sessions. For anyone wishing to join in the fun, the cost to participate is $25 for residents and $30 for non-residents. The other sessions for our Senior Center's Day Camp are:

"Elvis" - Tuesday, August 8th (9am-2pm)

NAAMA Karate offers karate lessons for ages 5+ that are taught by certified brown and black belt instructors. As part of an ongoing program, participants will have the opportunity to test for their next belt color at the end of the course. Sessions run continuously.

Keep in mind that there's a Disc Golf course in the neighborhood at Spindler Park! The creation of the Spindler Park Disc Golf Course was made in cooperation with the City of Eastpointe and the Professional Disc Golf Association. This Free Play course consists of 24 holes, 12 baskets at a par 72, elevation changes, hillside greens, protected fairways, island green and blind tee shots - all in an amazing public park!

The Senior Nutrition Program is available on weekdays here in the Activity Center. The MCCSA offers warm and delicious lunches which are served Monday through Friday at 11:30am. A suggested cost-share donation is $3.

The Senior Center will have a couple of visitors stopping by this Monday between 10:00am - Noon! 🤝
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will be in the Senior Lobby to provide Eastpointe residents with information on drinking water filters and ways to adopt other behaviors to reduce lead levels in home drinking water. They will also assist qualifying families to receive a filter at no cost.
Jerrie Jacobs-Gonzalez, a Sam's Club representative, will also be in the Senior Lobby on Monday to discuss Sam's Club membership opportunities. If you are looking to purchase a new membership this is a great time to get a price. All are welcome to stop by and check out the offer for the month of June!

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy quality recreational programming. Depending on the size of your family and income, you may qualify. It's easy and confidential to apply.
