Iowa Colony High School Families,

We are looking forward to celebrating the Iowa Colony High School Class of 2026 this evening at Freedom Field at the Alvin ISD Heritage Complex.

Alvin ISD has been actively monitoring weather conditions throughout the day and will continue monitoring weather forecasts, lightning conditions, and radar trends throughout tonight’s ceremony.

At this time, graduation remains scheduled as planned. Current forecast guidance for the 7:30–9:30 PM ceremony window shows scattered storm activity remains possible this evening, with lightning continuing to be the primary operational concern.

Please note: Rain alone will not delay graduation ceremonies.

Ceremonies may be temporarily delayed if lightning or threatening weather conditions are present within the monitored safety area.
Alvin ISD has established weather safety and shelter procedures in place if needed.
If temporary delays become necessary:

Graduates will move to designated indoor shelter areas under staff supervision.
*Guests may be asked to temporarily leave the stadium until conditions are safe to resume.
*Official updates will be communicated through the stadium public address system and official Alvin ISD communication channels.
*Guests are encouraged to monitor official Alvin ISD communication platforms throughout the evening and prepare for possible changing weather conditions.

Dr. Tony Taylor was named the new principal of Iowa Colony High School at tonight's board meeting! As he joins the Pioneer family, we look forward to the leadership and vision he will bring as our students continue to Blaze the Trail toward success. Welcome to ICHS, Dr. Taylor!

If only our legislatures moved with haste when it comes to funding public education like they did when it came to gerrymandering congressional districts. One person asked for “more seats” and it happened in a trimester. Thousands of teachers asked for a pay raise and received years worth of excuses and pennies on the dollar.

We cannot continue to say we value children while underfunding the very people entrusted to educate them. Public education should never move at the speed of politics when it deserves the urgency of progress.

Teachers MATTER in the great state of Texas.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we honor the teachers who have made a difference in our lives -- both inside & outside of the classroom.
