An upcoming winter storm is expected to impact the Monmouth County area Sunday 2/22 into Monday 2/23.

Moderate to major flooding is expected in our area, do not drive vehicles through flood waters.

All vehicles MUST be removed from side streets by Sunday at 9:00 AM and relocated to the Borough parking lot.

The Community Center will be available upon request for heat and phone charging.

🚨 SEA BRIGHT POLICE DEPARTMENT – SNOW ALERT ❄️

An upcoming winter storm is expected to impact the Monmouth County area with snow and hazardous conditions.

đźš— PARKING RESTRICTIONS
All vehicles MUST be removed from side streets by Sunday at 9:00 PM and relocated to the Borough parking lot to allow for snow removal operations.

🤝 COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE
Please check on neighbors and assist when it is safe to do so. If you or someone you know needs help during the storm, contact the Sea Bright Police Department.

🏠 WARMING / CHARGING CENTER
The Community Center will be available upon request for heat and phone charging.

Please remove all vehicles off the roads throughout the boro to allow snowplows to clear the roads effectively.
Vehicles must be removed from the roads prior to 9pm on Saturday January 24th, 2026, for the upcoming winter snow storm anticipated for early Sunday morning hours.
Vehicles in violation of boro ordinance 201-56 (Removal of vehicles for plowing of streets) will be ticketed and towed for said violation. Please utilize our boro parking lots during this snow storm.

New Jersey E-Bike Laws

The State of New Jersey has enacted new safety regulations for e-bikes that are now in effect.

Licensing for all E-Bikes:
• 15-16 years of age must obtain a license from the DMV for motorized bicycles (Motorized Bicycle License)
• 17+ years of age must have a valid driver's license
• Under the age of 15, not permitted to operate an e-bike

All E-Bikes must be registered with the NJ MVC.

Insurance coverage is required for all e-bikes.

Registration and License fees are waived for the first year. After six months fines for non-compliance operators will begin.

Sales and Modifications: Online sales are banned statewide for one year. Modification kits are now illegal in the state of New Jersey.

New Classifications for e-bikes:
• Electric Motorized Bicycles are bicycles that exceed 28 mph
• Motorized Bicycles are bicycles are throttle controlled with a speed up to 28 mph
• Low-Speed Bicycles are bicycles with a pedal-assist with a speed up to 20 mph

Note: You cannot operate an e-bike on any sidewalk or on the multi-use path (splash pad) in town.

Motor Vehicle Collision involving Pedestrians

On Friday, September 19 just after 8:30 pm, Patrol Squad C responded to the 800 Block of Ocean Avenue for a motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians that were struck by a vehicle.

The two pedestrians were found to be critically injured and were treated on scene by the Sea Bright Fire Rescue, Sea Bright Emergency Medical Services, Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office - MEDSTAR and paramedics from the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital System. Both patients were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in serious condition.

The preliminary investigation suggests a vehicle traveling south on Ocean Avenue struck the two pedestrians while they were crossing within a crosswalk.

The investigation is ongoing by members of the department’s criminal investigations bureau. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Madison Taylor, (732) 842-0018 extension 233

On May 20th 2025, Mayor Brian Kelly and the Borough council promoted two officers to their new ranks of Sergeant. Congratulations to Sergeant Andrew Hendricks and Detective Sergeant Ty Manning. At this meeting, we also recognized retired Chief Brett Friedman for his 34 years of service with the Borough.
