Last night members of the Rural Valley Fire Department participated in our monthly drill which focused on driver training. A driving course which mirrors the actual course for operating certification was setup and members sharpened their driving skills at different configured stations. Engine 210-1, Rescue 210, and Tanker 210 were the trucks that members focused their attention on to navigate this challenging course. This drill also gives an opportunity for our veteran drivers to mentor our newer drivers on all the proper techniques needed to operate these emergency apparatus. Thank you to our 2nd Assistant Chief Dan Bish for coordinating and facilitating this month's drill. Also we want to give a shout out to the Armstrong County DPS / 911 for the use of the county traffic control trailer which provided the cones to setup all the different course stations.
Remember to always stay a least 500 feet back for any emergency apparatus while driving down the highway and if you see an emergency vehicle approaching with lights flashing and sirens on, please safely pull over and stop so they can safely get around you. If you are approaching a emergency scene please give your full attention, slow down to a safe speed, and obey those individuals directing traffic!!
