At ProSearch, giving back is part of who we are. Recently, members of our team rolled up their sleeves and joined volunteers from the Project Management Institute’s New Hampshire Chapter to help clean up Rye Beach in NH, in partnership with the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation. It was a great day to connect, contribute, and make a positive impact on our local environment.

We’re always looking for ways to support the communities we live and work in, and we’re proud to do that alongside the Project Management Institute’s New Hampshire Chapter, which we’re honored to sponsor. Thanks to everyone who helped make the day a success!

Embracing the Automation Mindset: Revolutionizing Project Management

Guest Speaker: Jacob Kashiwagi, PhD

The Automation Mindset presentation introduces a new way of thinking about project management, highlighting the rise of automation and AI. It emphasizes that these technologies streamline processes by using information, reducing the need for extensive human involvement. Mastery in this area requires understanding the core principles behind AI, not just its deployment.

During the presentation, attendees learn three key pillars: natural laws, observation, and structure. By understanding natural laws, they simplify complex situations into manageable information. Through careful observation, they learn to spot patterns and make quick, informed decisions. Structure helps create efficient frameworks, minimizing errors and redundancies in project delivery.

By adopting this mindset, project managers can transform their approach, achieving outcomes beyond traditional methods. They gain clarity and precision to navigate modern business challenges, driving innovation and success for their organizations. Ultimately, the presentation serves as a catalyst for transformation, empowering attendees to harness the full potential of automation and AI in project management.

Learning Objectives:
▪ Attendees grasp the potential of automation and AI in project management to streamline processes effectively.
▪ Learn the 3 pillars of an Automation Mindset to optimize project delivery with reduced errors and inefficiencies.
▪ Learn how to lower project costs by 30%, 50% manpower savings, and 100% faster project delivery, while increasing the value and quality of services received.
▪ Armed with new insights, attendees become agents of change within their organizations, fostering innovation and driving success in project management.

About Dr. Jacob:
Dr. Jacob is a thought leader in the areas of education, leadership development, procurement, and supply chain management. He received his PhD from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the area of Supply Chain Management. His research led him to co-develop the Best Value Approach, a revolutionary and internationally renowned approach to business. Their groundbreaking model is the most licensed technology out of Arizona State University in the past 20 years (62 licenses) and has been tested on over 2,000 projects valued over $6 billion in services, with a 98% success rating (on time, within budget, and client highly satisfied), and savings of 10-30% on all project costs.

Dr. Jacob also managed the expansion of the best value approach program throughout the world. He has tested the BVA on over 1000 projects. He is responsible for research done with the State of Oklahoma, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, and the US Army Medical command, where he produced significant results of cost savings, increased efficiency, and improved quality to the services provided. His groundbreaking research on the Best Value Approach was integrated into a graduate program and put into practice at Arizona State University for outsourcing food services. The results at ASU led to an investment of $100 million, which was the first of its kind, and the vendor is still surpassing their milestone goals for the University.

The global success of the Best Value Approach inspired Dr. Jacob to author the No-Influence Leadership Model, a radical approach to teaching leadership skills to students and professionals. This unique methodology emphasizes that effective leadership is about understanding and aligning expertise without attempting to change or influence others. This leadership model led Dr. Kashiwagi to create the Leadership Society of Arizona (LSA), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization focused on helping high school students to be successful. Using his professional and educational experience, he has taught this approach to over 8,000 management professionals, 1,500 college students, and 1,200 high school students. He has personally mentored over 150 students helping them use the NoInfluence Leadership Model to develop lucrative careers and overcome personal instability (substance abuse, family trauma, depression, severe anxiety, etc.).

Today, Dr. Kashiwagi continues to champion programs to advance the fields of project management, procurement, and leadership development by presenting to large groups, inspiring young people, giving back to the community, and publishing books. He is a two-time Amazon best-selling author of In Search of Truth and No-Influence Mentoring.

Summary

Are you trying to create a project team where people are supposed to multitask on several projects with several other teams? Or, you’re supposed to create a totally predictive plan, but your team needs to experiment to deliver what the customers need. Maybe, you don’t have an answer for the reason why the team is doing this work.

What can you do?

Change your leadership from thinking about activities to delivering outcomes. You don’t need to do all the planning and leading—instead, the team can lead itself and deliver. Create an environment where you focus on the team, not each person as an individual.

In this presentation, Johanna will discuss these specific servant leadership actions: the value the team offers, team-based leadership, and how to create an environment where everyone can succeed.

Key Learning Objectives

Learn to deliver the business outcomes your organization needs when you create an environment that frees people to do their best work with your leadership.
Become a modern leader who leads and serves others—not controls or directs them.
Deliver the business outcomes your management wants and needs to see.
