Ham Radio Contest Calendar for the weekend of October 13/14.

Makrothen RTTY Contest, Oceania DX Contest-CW, Scandinavian Activity Contest-SSB, QRP ARCI Fall QSO Party, EU Autumn Sprint-CW, Arizona QSO Party, Pennsylvania QSO Party, FISTS Fall Sprint, PODXS 070 Club 160m Great Pumpkin Sprint, SKCC Weekend Sprintathon, North American Sprint-RTTY, UBA ON Contest-CW.

Not a very full contest weekend, but none the less several awards up for grabs. Please remember for AFSK modes to keep an eye on bandwidth. More power and more modulation does not mean more contacts, in fact, it's the opposite. Over modulated AFSK signals can't be properly decoded. Not to mention that "splatter" is a violation of FCC regulations.

Special hint: Oceania DX Contest will mostly be found on 15 meters. 15 meters is a Oceania favorite.

An update from Bill Pasternak, President, Co-Founder of Amateur Radio Newsline: Medical Update for Tuesday, Oct. 9. I'm on stand-by to have a "Right Ventricular Cardio Cath" today. This is just a follow-up by my cardiologist. Hes wanted to do it for some time and as long as I'm here and on the Cardio-Pulmonary Floor, and the Cath Lab is down the hall -- he talked me into it. One more test after that -- not sure what its called other than a breathing level test -- and then -- hopefully -- I go home in a day or so.
