Healthcare isn't just about treating illness, it's about preserving quality of life.

Assemblymember Alex Lee, author of AB 1949, is standing up for patients who rely on acupuncture as part of their healthcare journey. For thousands of Medi-Cal recipients, acupuncture provides effective, non-opioid pain relief, improves mobility, and helps people stay healthy, independent, and productive.

We thank Assemblymember Alex Lee for supporting access to evidence-based, culturally responsive care and for recognizing the vital role acupuncture plays in our healthcare system.

The CDSS celebrated Pride Month with a panel discussion moderated by CDSS Director Jennifer T***a featuring Senator Caroline Menjivar and Assemblymember Alex Lee, two members of the California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus. The conversation highlighted LGBTQIA+ history, representation in state leadership, and the ongoing work to expand equity and access to services for all Californians.

Thank you to the CDSS Office of Equity Division and the LGBTQIA+ Employee Affinity Group for organizing this event and for their continued work to advance inclusion across the Department. 🏳️‍🌈

ICE and its corporate profiteers are locking up tens of thousands of people without any regard for human dignity. My bill, No Tax Breaks For ICE Contractors Act, ensures that California does not spend taxpayer dollars to bankroll corporations that aid and abet ICE’s indiscriminate violence. The legislation is part of the State Assembly’s concerted efforts to counter ICE and protect our immigrant communities.

California state lawmakers yesterday debated several bills aimed at increasing oversight of federal immigration enforcement and targeting companies that work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

My bill, the No Tax Breaks For ICE Contractors Act, cancels tax breaks for corporations that contract with ICE. The legislation just PASSED the Assembly floor.

ICE and their corporate collaborators are profiting from horrific atrocities in immigrant detention camps. Our taxpayer dollars cannot be used to bankroll their reign of terror.

Until the federal government wakes up and abolishes ICE, we must do our part to stop ICE’s reckless violence.

California is the breadbasket of the nation. Yet, 8.8 million people are experiencing food insecurity.

Now, the federal government is exacerbating the hunger crisis and deepening poverty by imposing expanded work requirements for hundreds of thousands of CalFresh recipients.

The empirical evidence is clear: work requirements do not increase employment. Instead, they impose bureaucratic paperwork designed as tripwires for people to fall over.

Proud to recognize the Ohlone Humane Society as the 2026 Nonprofit of the Year of Assembly District 24! So grateful for the partnership with Ohlone Humane Society over the years.

The volunteer-run group serving the Tri-Cities does such important work in protecting animals, fostering kittens, and healing our urban wildlife. Their work wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of their volunteers! Reach out to OHS if you’d like to contribute or foster a kitten!
