The California Homebuilding Foundation (CHF)'s mission is to advance the homebuilding industry in Ca

Founded in 1978 through the California Building Industry Association (CBIA), the Foundation serves the industry by providing scholarships, research and educational professional development programs for California. CHF also presents the prestigious annual Hall of Fame award and oversees the CIRB report.

On , we’re celebrating Donald Chaiken and a vision that continues to create opportunities for students across California.

Donald believed deeply in education and the future of our industry. Together, he and his wife Carole made a transformational investment in BITA - helping expand its reach and giving more students the chance to build, learn, and see what’s possible.

Today, his name proudly lives on through the Donald Chaiken Building Industry Technology Academy.

And the impact keeps growing.

We're proud to support students whose work creates real-world impact for California's communities and housing industry.

Congratulations to Allison Larko, recipient of the California Homebuilding Foundation Monica Florian Endowment Scholarship, on earning her master's degree from the UC Santa Barbara Bren School.

As part of her Master's Group Project with Sonoma Clean Power, Allison helped evaluate how neighborhood-scale electrification can strengthen energy resilience and support a more sustainable future for Roseland, a disadvantaged community in Santa Rosa.
