We are a POST certified department authorized by Penal Code section 830.32 and Education Code section 72330. Our authority extends to any place in the state for the purpose of performing our primary duty. We receive the same basic and ongoing training as all municipa

l and county law enforcement departments. LRPD Police Officers provide primary law enforcement on four main campuses (Sacramento City College, American River College, Cosumnes River College, and Folsom Lake College) and nine outreach centers, ranging from Yolo County, Sacramento County, and El Dorado County. We also work in partnership with
our local agencies within those counties.

We are pleased to share that Canvas is back online for all Los Rios students. Los Rios will follow statewide recommendations for security measures for the resumption of Canvas activity.
While the immediate situation has been resolved, the State Chancellor’s Office has advised all users to be cautious and vigilant. Be wary of any new Canvas messages or emails soliciting money to access any element of Canvas or complete Canvas activities. They recommend avoiding accessing any links in messages from any user they are not familiar with. If you notice any suspicious behavior or communications, please report it at servicecentral.losrios.edu.
We recognize that students will have many questions about what to do now. Please look for information from your instructor and be patient as they work to communicate updates to their classes.
We will share more information as it becomes available.
Thank you all for patience as we all have navigated this global outage.
