With wildfires currently burning in parts of California, it's a good reminder to make sure your family has a fire safety plan in place.

Young children may not know what to do during an emergency, so practicing ahead of time can make a difference. Talk about what a smoke alarm sounds like, plan how everyone will get out of your home, choose a family meeting spot, and practice your escape plan together.

Child Action, Inc. is now enrolling participants in its Early Childhood Educator Apprenticeship Program. Apprentices receive paid on-the-job training, free college courses through Los Rios Community College District, support with job placement, and the opportunity to qualify for an Associate Teacher Permit.

Applicants must be 18 or older, have a high school diploma or GED, pass a background check, and be a resident of the City of Sacramento.
