Special thanks to News 4 Jax for coming to the site and visiting with Merrel Bros.
This agenda item almost wasn’t heard because the incumbent wanted to pull a by the book, professional proposal and solution, keeping it from being heard in public. Time and again she stated she doesn’t know, wasn’t informed, and not invited to attend meetings and conferences when all other 4 seats have participated in multiple capacities over the years.
The truth is after 4 years, that can’t be the answer from an incumbent. Heather has worked to address the community need related to this public continuum provider. Her efforts led to this path and to be in the audience and watch a motion to not allow it to be heard, just disheartening. Then to target Heather for political gain during another companies item, while also not focusing on the solution, even admitting she wasn’t prepared?
Even after learning during the presentation of this State and Countrywide problem, she still wanted to pay more to just take it away, IE waste more tax dollars with no solution and just kick the can down the road.
We need leadership who is experienced, professional, and can prepare and think critically and not be one AI bullet point deep. Thank you to the incumbent for disrupting the developer bought board, but it’s time for future strategy and professional leadership to solve complex issues and prevent this from continuing for our next generation. It’s time to take accountability, do the job you’re paid to do, show up prepared, and make the hard decisions.
St. Johns County commissioners are set to hear a presentation Tuesday, June 2, on a proposal that would replace the open-air biosolids composting operation at the Indianhead site near St. Augustine with a new enclosed treatment facility.
