City of St. Gabriel

City of St. Gabriel The City of St. Gabriel is located on the east side of the Mississippi River and is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. St. Hwy. 30.

Gabriel is the newest city of Iberville, having been incorporated in 1994. It includes a large portion of East Iberville, and boasts both residential communities and a strong industrial base. Since its incorporation, St. Gabriel has added many services for residents, including multi-million dollar sewer systems, improved lighting, parks, a new $4 million Community Center that includes a heated ind

oor swimming pool, a large auditorium and other indoor and outdoor facilities. The area was settled by Acadian exiles who arrived in 1767 to help complete Fort St. Gabriel on Bayou Manchac. The bayou, at that time, was the boundary between the Spanish and English territory. Gabriel’s beautiful Catholic Church was built by the Acadian settlers between 1774 and 1776, and is the oldest surviving church structure in the entire Mississippi Valley. Gabriel’s location adjacent to East Baton Rouge Parish provides easy access to LSU and many state government offices downtown via La. Gabriel also includes the community Bayou Paul. This has resulted as a thriving community, with new residential developments and new businesses and industries on the way. Progressive governmental decisions has made St. Gabriel a City on the move.

Sammy's Grill…Come and see us here in St. Gabriel, LA.

End of an era, but hopefully not the end of the story. 💜💛🦞

Since 1988, Sammy’s on Highland has been a Baton Rouge and LSU tradition, serving famous crawfish and creating memories for generations of families, friends, and Tiger fans.

As our lease has come to an end, the property owners have chosen to move in a different direction. We respect their decision, are grateful for the many years we called Highland home, and are excited for what comes next.

Our last day of business at the Highland location will be Sunday, June 14th. Over the next week, we invite you to stop by, enjoy your Sammy’s favorites and help us give Highland the sendoff it deserves.

While the Highland location is closing, we’re actively searching for a new home. Until then, come see us at our Prairieville location and continue supporting the Sammy’s family.

Thank you for nearly 40 years of memories. Stay tuned for updates on our future location—we’re not done yet.

Share your favorite Sammy’s family memory below! 💜💛👇🦞

A huge thank-you to Pastor David Lodge, Director, for his leadership and dedication to creating meaningful experiences for our seniors!

Be on the lookout for more exciting things happening at the center as we continue building moments that bring our seniors closer together.

ST. GABRIEL- The simplicity of traveling less than 10 minutes to buy something as simple as a fruit or vegetable is something people in the city don't always think about, but for residents in St. Gabriel, getting groceries can be a journey.
