Happy National Public Works Week to the crews and staff who keep our community moving every single day. The department encompasses many functions including maintaining streets and storm drains, operating traffic signals, collecting trash and recycling, maintaining the airport, managing transit, and protecting our waste water systems. Public Works professionals work behind the scenes to provide the essential services we all rely on.

Rain or shine, day or night, these dedicated employees help keep our city safe, clean and functioning. Their hard work may go unnoticed, but the impact they make is seen everywhere.

Please join us in thanking our Public Works team for their commitment, professionalism and service to our community.

St. Joseph Transit, in partnership with Mosaic Life Care, is implementing enhancements to Route 4 to improve access to key destinations, including Plaza 4, UMKC, and Rolling Hills Library.
These updates reflect a shared commitment to better connecting patients, employees, students, and the broader community to essential services. New stops will be located at the south end of the east parking lot (across from Rolling Hills Library) and just south of the first drive into Plaza 4. Due to bus size and safety considerations, vehicles are unable to enter certain parking areas, but stops have been placed as conveniently as possible. Additionally, the hospital stop will be relocated to the end of the sidewalk at Lot J to support safe and efficient access.

The changes will take effect Monday, May 18, 2026.

Due to deteriorating pavement conditions at the current facility, St. Joseph Transit will temporarily relocate the Woodbine Transfer Center to 1501 Village Drive, effective Monday, December 8.

This temporary move will require minor route adjustments, but all scheduled times will remain unchanged. Riders should expect normal service levels during this transition and will be able to use an existing bus shelter at the Village Drive location.

St. Joseph Transit will begin planned site improvements during the upcoming construction season. These upgrades are necessary to ensure buses can safely return to the current Woodbine Transfer Center location once work is complete.

St. Joseph Transit appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation.

Beginning on Monday, Nov. 3, St. Joseph Transit will relocate its eastside transfer station from the Hy-Vee parking lot to the new Woodbine Transfer Center.

The new transfer center is located on the west side of Woodbine, just north of Faraon Street, in the parking lot east of the East Hills Library. Buses will line up along the east curb of the lot, providing riders with a safe and convenient transfer location. Bus shelters with lights have been installed at the new location.

Although the transfer station is moving, service to Hy-Vee will remain available on Routes 3 and 4. Riders can make transfers to Routes 2, 5, 7, and 8. A new bus stop will be installed on the outer road behind the Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh Convenience Store to continue providing easy access for passengers.
