Women’s Service League (WSL) is proud to announce Eve Alford (pictured right) of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School and Audrey Kuehn (pictured left) of Niles High School as the recipients of the 2026 Athena Scholarships! These scholarships recognize outstanding young women who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and a deep commitment to service within their communities.
Eve Alford has distinguished herself through exceptional academic performance, earning a 4.22 GPA while completing a rigorous Advanced Placement curriculum . She plans to continue her education at the University of Notre Dame or Saint Mary’s College . Eve is a proven leader, serving as President of DECA and actively participating in National Honor Society, Student Council, and numerous service organizations. She has contributed more than 300 volunteer hours, including impactful work with youth and leadership in creating a care closet at her school to support students experiencing food insecurity. Her dedication, initiative, and compassion have made a lasting impact on both her school and the broader community.
Audrey Kuehn has also demonstrated excellence across academics, leadership, and service, earning a 4.15 GPA while maintaining a highly active and engaged high school experience . She plans to pursue a dual degree in Sports Management and Business Administration, with a minor in Event Management, and is considering attending the University of Michigan or Western Michigan University . Audrey serves as Student Council President, Class of 2026 Cabinet President, and Vice President of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), and is an active member of Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society, and National Technical Honor Society. Her long-standing commitment to the Four Flags Area Apple Festival, where she has served as Miss Apple Festival and now as an Associate Board Member, highlights her passion for community engagement and leadership. She also mentors youth through church and YMCA programs, further demonstrating her dedication to service.
“Eve and Audrey represent the very best of our community,” said the Women’s Service League. “Their achievements, leadership, and commitment to making a difference embody the spirit of the Athena Scholarship. We are incredibly proud to support them as they take the next step in their journeys.”
The Athena Scholarship is awarded annually to young women who demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership, and community service, and who are poised to make a meaningful impact in the future.
The Women’s Service League is honored to recognize Eve Alford and Audrey Kuehn and looks forward to the positive contributions they will continue to make in their communities and beyond.
