Tonight in the Minnesota House, I offered an amendment to the health bill that would have brought us into clean conformity at the state level with President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill (That's it's official name.)
The amendment failed on a party-line vote, with all 67 Democrats voting NO. Because the House is tied, the amendment died.
I then voted NO on the bill itself. It contained multiple unrelated subjects that should have been brought forward as separate, single-subject bills. Despite my opposition, the bill passed.
I’ve grown tired of these multi-subject omnibus bills. Both parties use them as leverage tools, turning lawmaking into a game of trading favors. That’s not how representative government should work. The People deserve so much better. I do want to thank all the Republicans who stood with me on the clean amendment.
