IT'S FINALLY ALMOST HERE! If you're anything like us, you're spending your day getting ready to head out tomorrow to the Great Minnesota Get-Together! The State Fair is an excellent opportunity to take a look at the amazing work of Minnesota animal producers by taking a stroll through ALL of the show barns. But be careful! Even if you're not showing or exhibiting animals, it's important to remember to practice good biosecurity (HINT: Wash those hands!) to prevent bringing any sneaky diseases to yourself or your animals at home. Check out our Biosecurity page for loads of helpful general and specific tips to prevent the spread of animal disease! https://bah.state.mn.us/biosecurity

Since false positives and negatives are possible, it’s important to repeat testing on a regular basis if you or your veterinarian suspects your dog may be infected with Canine Brucellosis. The Minnesota Board of Animal Health maintains a list of approved tests on our website at https://bah.state.mn.us/dogs-cats -brucellosis.

Did you know that Minnesota was recently able to declare freedom from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in the state’s poultry population? While this is great news, it's not the first time, and the work of preventing HPAI is far from over. Animal health officials and producers need to maintain vigilance and biosecurity practices while also preparing for the next wave. Read more about our history of HPAI freedom status in our August issue of Animal Bytes: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/MNBAH/bulletins/424f409
