Did you know Minnesota recently had its first 2026 case of West Nile Virus in a horse? The best way to keep your horses catching disease from mosquitoes is to keep them from getting bitten. In addition to a proactive vaccination plan, take steps to reduce mosquito populations on your property by eliminating the places where mosquitoes can breed: Change water in troughs frequently, mow long grass and drain stagnant water. Testing for Canine Brucellosis requires specific screening tests and further confirmatory tests should a sample be positive. Since false positives and negatives are possible, it’s important to repeat testing on a regular basis if you or your veterinarian suspects your dog may be infected with Canine Brucellosis. The Minnesota Board of Animal Health maintains a list of approved tests on our website at https://bah.state.mn.us/dogs-cats -brucellosis.

Did you know that Minnesota was recently able to declare freedom from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in the state’s poultry population?
