Congratulations to MSG Jeremy Reem on his retirement from the military with more than 26 years of service to our state and nation! At his retirement ceremony, he had this to say to the unit, “To my fellow Soldiers- I sincerely hope that you can continue to enjoy your service as I have enjoyed mine. The Army will keep doing Army things, but it’s the people that you serve with that make it great. It’s the people that make it worthwhile. And it’s the people that you will miss.” And we will miss you, MSG Reem!

This weekend, we had the opportunity to recognize Sgt. Maj. James Bartkey’s more than 40 years of service to our state and nation. In 2016, then Acting Secretary of the Army, Patrick Murphy sent an email to the force describing a visit to a basic training site. He had this to say, “While participating in physical training with our newest trainees, I was reminded that the backbone of our Army team will always be our Noncommissioned Officers. They truly develop an incredible proficiency and professionalism in our Soldiers. They stamp the love of country on our hearts.” Thank you, Sergeant Major Bartkey for stamping the love of country on our hearts.

Please join us in welcoming the Minnesota National Guard's new Catholic chaplain, Father Paul Hedman, who took the oath of office at the Cathedral of St. Paul earlier this week.

“Military chaplains help service members develop the strength to face adversity by nurturing the living, caring for the wounded, and honoring the fallen,” said Army Col. Buddy Winn, Minnesota
National Guard’s State Chaplain. “The chaplain’s mission—to nurture the living, care for the wounded, and honor the fallen—ensures our people are never left without that support.”

The Minnesota National Guard’s Chaplain Corps comprises nearly two dozen clergy from diverse faith traditions, including ministers, priests, and rabbis. It provides comprehensive religious support, ensuring that all Soldiers and Airmen can freely exercise their beliefs.
