DISCUSSION: High pressure will build into the state over the weekend with mostly sunny skies and pleasant temperatures. For Sunday, lingering light smoke will bring Yellow (moderate) air quality to an area stretching from Rochester and the Twin Cities northwest to Fargo. AIQs in the rest of the state are forecast to be Green (Good). Some additional light smoke may arrive on Monday from the west and southwest, and Yellow air quality is forecast for areas along and south of I-94.

DISCUSSION: Smoke from fires across the Pacific Northwest will continue travelling east into Minnesota. Moderate (Yellow) surface smoke is expected to impact Minnesota for Thursday. In addition, denser smoke aloft will continue blanketing the region producing hazy skies. A low pressure will bring clouds and showers to most of the area later Thursday and Friday. Smoke is expected to gradually clear from north to south throughout the day Friday, and air quality in most of the state may be Green (Good) over the weekend.

Air quality in the Arrowhead is Green (Good), and the fires in far northern Minnesota and Ontario are producing minimal smoke. Fire activity will remain high across the Pacific Northwest over the next few days and a consistent weather pattern will continue to transport smoke east into Minnesota. Moderate (Yellow) surface smoke is expected to impact MN through Thursday. In addition, denser smoke aloft will continue to blanket the region and produce hazy skies. A low pressure will bring clouds and showers to most of the area on Friday, and the rain could potentially bring air quality down towards Green.
