The Hamline Midway Library is open! The space is incredible and is already being enjoyed by so many neighbors. So many people were involved in building this library and making it a place for all neighbors to thrive. We are so grateful for all the city and community leaders, past and present, for their role in making the library what it is today.

Tonight is the Hamline Midway Coalition's annual Ice Cream Social. 6-8pm at Hamline Park, join for free ice cream and community connection!

In the last 48 hours, Saint Paulites have learned about multiple allegations that Mayor Kaohly Her engaged in sexual harassment and misconduct toward city employees. These allegations are serious, and must be fully and thoroughly investigated.

There are many questions about the specific allegations made that need to be thoroughly answered by external investigators. Additionally, the public needs clarity now on the current relationship between the Mayor and the Police Department. We must know whether public safety has or will be compromised because of the alleged behavior or the fallout from it.

The lack of transparency related to this matter to date is unacceptable. The City Council learned about these allegations and the hiring of the external investigators from the media. Our partners in the Mayor’s administration should have informed the Council of this matter as soon as it was apparent that there were serious allegations against the Mayor, and before an external law firm was retained. Transparency moving forward is non-negotiable if we are going to restore trust and faith in City Hall.

Saint Paul is facing serious and immediate challenges—not the least of which is a looming $26M budget gap. We need leadership that is focused relentlessly on addressing those challenges and improving the quality of life for all of our residents. Saint Paul deserves nothing less.

Join the West 7th/Fort Road Federation and community partners for a facilitated community conversation about homelessness and the planned closure of encampments in Saint Paul.

This forum provides an opportunity for individuals experiencing homelessness, neighborhood residents, service providers, elected officials, and community members to come together for respectful dialogue. Unlike a formal public hearing, the evening is designed as a facilitated community conversation.

The event will begin with brief remarks from invited panelists, followed by a moderated public discussion where attendees can share their perspectives and ask questions.

This event takes place on Tuesday, July 28th from 6-7:30pm at the North Garden Theater and is free and open to the public.

Next week, there will be two important opportunities for the public to get more information about the planned encampment closures and to participate in a public hearing.

First, at 12:30 on Wednesday, 07/22, Assistant Mayor Cedrick Baker will be presenting to the City Council’s Public Safety Committee on the Mayor’s Office’s plans related to encampment closures. The public is encouraged to attend, but there will not be a public hearing at this meeting.

Second, at 4:30 the same day (Wed 7/22), there will be a special meeting of the City Council to hold a public hearing on the Mayor’s plans; our full Council will be in attendance, and the Mayor’s Office has committed to sending a representative.

Both of these meetings will take place at 300 City Hall, 15 Kellogg Boulevard West. From Ward Four, the Green Line, the B Line, the 3A and 3B, 63, 94, and 67 are all easy ways to get there.

Transparency and comprehensive plans are essential here, and these meetings are important means of ensuring both. Please share widely.

The Hamline Midway Library is opening this Saturday! The celebration will be from 10:30 am - 2:30 pm, with the library opening to the public at 10 am. See you there!
