This afternoon, a school bus driving south on Snelling Avenue drove onto the Hamline University campus and struck a campus building. We're in touch with individuals who were on the scene and the Police Department, and are working to confirm both the preliminary reports that there are no serious injuries and what exactly happened. We'll continue to share any updates we receive.

The last couple months have been busy! Here’s what we’ve been up to:

In April, CM Coleman attended Fire Ops 101 and learned how to be a firefighter! Then, she attended the District 10 Como Community Council Annual Meeting. Next, CM Coleman had a great meeting with Tesha Christensen, owner of the Midway Como Frogtown Monitor, about the importance of local media institutions.

Later in April, CMs Coleman and Jost spoke at the Macalester Groveland Community Council Annual Meeting. There is so much great work being done by our district councils! We also went to a community meeting at Dilla Sports Bar to discuss the future commercial development district at Snelling and University. Our team was also at the Big Ole Trash Party, hosted by HMC and UPDC, where we saw the Brass Messengers perform at Black Hart.

At the end of our busy April, we attended the St. Anthony Park Transportation Committee meeting with Metro Transit to talk about the H line. CM Coleman also spoke about Ward and Citywide priorities at the Council’s annual budget retreat.

Moving into May, CMs Coleman and Johnson led a community meeting about the City’s newly launched Tenant Protections program at the North End Community Center. Then, CM Coleman attended the Peace Officers Memorial Event along with the rest of the Council and the Mayor. To celebrate Arbor Day, she planted trees at Newell Park.

Last but certainly not least, our team was at the Mighty Midway Festival with the HMC crew, as well as Commissioner McMurtrey, who got to meet a very tall new friend!
